Are these recognized subspecies or "desert elephant" designations?

Alces americanus gigas Miller, Alaska moose
Alces americanus shirasi Nelson, Shiras moose

Neat, I had assumed there was moose and moose and moose. So this maritime moose is endangered? I could not find an IUCN red list for moose in the short search I did. But, my skepticism kept me from a longer search.

I’d say the habitat is endangered.
