Having shot a nice Duiker on my recent hunt in Namibia, I am looking at having my taxidermists do a pedestal mount. Maybe either just on the wall or with a stand.
I've been looking through the forums but it's hit or miss on this one.
Any one care to post pictures of their Duiker mounts for ideas? Appreciate it.....

Just have straight on shoulder mount. Not my favorite.

I'm not a fan of the straight out of the wall, traditional mounts like I grew up with. Much prefer the shoulder mount, or they call it, pedestal mount. I was thinking since it's not very big, a small table top mount might work?

Imo, the little guys look best when done as a full lifesize mount. Of course you are probably in the 2k range for a really good taxidermist. Using a standard foam wall rock would help in offsetting the price of a wood floor display.

Just a thought

I say have a full mount of the animal as it's so tiny that if done as a shoulder mount, it'll disappear among larger plains game.

Please forgive me for posting a Steenbuck..... But I am sure you will understand where I'm coming from.

I have a Duiker S/M facing straight, and it dissappears a bit inbetween any larger mounts. I was concerned that the same would happen to my Steenbuck, so I had it mounted as a sidemount, with a bit of artificial wood / rock added. It beefed up the mount quite a bit, and having it mounted side ways, it presents a bit more of the flank.
I am sure that if you mount a Duiker in a similar way, it will present very well.
Best of luck with your mount! (y)

I took a nice duiker last year. When I spoke with my taxidermist (Relive Taxidermy of Port Elizabeth RSA) I was thinking of a basic shoulder mount. For this he made it clear a shoulder mount didn't show off a small animal well, it was best to go with a pedestal or wall pedestal mount if not going with a full mount. So, I have a wall pedestal in the works.
I'm not sure I can post the pics here but he has a good steenbok wall pedestal and pedestal bookend duikers on his Facebook page, as will others.

Yeah, too late to worry about a full mount. The Steenbuck looks great and that's something along the lines of what I had in mind. My taxidermist, Brendon Wood, who owns and operates Safari Life Taxidermy here in San Antonio, has done some in the past and he has ideas on a pedestal mount that would come on a stand you'd sit on a table or desk.

I don’t have lot of room so mine are done as turned shoulder mounts.

I have 2 duikers mounted so far. Both full mounts, well actually the one is kinda full, but yet split in half;)

Pretty cool mounts, thanks for posting. The leopard combo is unique for sure.

Bob, who did that carcass mount?
Robert Utne, Wild Images in Motion. He has become my main guy and comes right to the house and sets things like that up. He grew up in the area;) And he is a true Artist who happens to do taxidermy. Which I believe is what takes, especially for the special stuff. Rather than a taxidermist trying to be an artist....

My Duiker mounted as a wall pedestal on a piece of wood...

And a similar mount of my Steenbok...

Buffybr-I really like those mounts-simple but attractive-I’m doing mine in that pose but on a big wooden African shaped plaque with some minimal habitat-gained a lot of appreciation for duikers while I was there. . .

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
