I think it would be a good thing to provide some sort of explanation whenever a post is deleted. If for no other reason than explaining the limits of our discourse.

Do you know something the rest of us don't?
That entire thread was deleted, and we at least deserve to be notified why. At the very least a warning should have been given. I feel my posts were above board and relevant, and I didn't attack anyone, so not sure what rules were broken.

On rare occasion we remove threads.
Let's use our collective imaginations expressed in the form of a hypothetical multiple choice test:

a) Posts are just too darned funny and everyone's AB's are hurting and we can't afford that.

b) The removal is entirely personal and done to irritate people.

c) People are angry with an organization and its failure to communicate with its membership
after having taken their hard earned money and these people do not know where to direct their frustration and anger so they blame others.

d) Somebody somewhere feels there has been perceived libelous content or a perceived breach of contract.


e) The Member and/or OP requests it be deleted because they are being threatened.

f) AH has not developed a large enough legal defense fund to combat narcissistic legal tantrums.


Choose any and/or all combinations of options listed that make you feel better.

The OP hasn't been threatened or requested thread removal..


but.. the jist of Brickburns post is 100% spot on IMO.. something occurred.. the result was NOT a nefarious act by AH.. AH is not where to focus any ire at all... Jerome, Brickburn, and AH have acted (IMO) in the best interest of membership..

You can draw conclusions from all remaining options and partial options..

Agreed, and seems to keep in step with the DSC moto of ........ No info is better than bad press.

I would speculate that someone sent someone else a legal letter and rather than dump money into an attorney the cheaper option was to remove it.

The Politics thread does get to be a bit personal at times (it could actually be worse) and I can grow tired of it despite not being able to ignore it. But that said, my guess is here is the deletion of the DSC thread had nothing to do with broken rules or hurt feelings. It goes beyond that and the DSC thread is really not comparable to the Politics thread.
