I see this topic has been discussed before, but have not been able to see which mount that is the very lowest one, and What height it has over the receiver?
I might get a CZ 500 in 416 Rigby, but would like to know just How low I can possibly mount my Zeiss 30mm scope before I take the leap and buy it.

I had a 1 inch straight tube Leupold 1.5-5x20 and used Warne low rings with no bolt/scope interference.

I’m thinking that their 30mm medium QD rings would be the way to go. They have a ring height finder in their website that’s pretty good.

On my Heym Martini Express 416 Rigby {Pictured below.} I used Alaskan Arms quick removable rings. The Heym has the same built-in dovetails as the CZ but the Heym does not require the fore-and-aft positioning bar on the rear ring. The Heym uses two CZ front rings and the Alaskan Arms CZ ring set has the required positioning bar on the rear ring. I used the Alaskan Arms rings as they mount my Zeiss Victory HT 1.5/6 30mm scope as low as possible to clear the bolt. I believe the CZ bolt shape would provide a little more clearance than the Heym does but I bet Alaskan Arms can provide more information. I have been extremely pleased with the rings and they positively hold zero when removed and reinstalled. That allows me to take a second 1/4 power scope as a spare or to be switched when very close and personal encounters could be expected.

Don’t buy a detachable scope mount. Mount your scope like you would on any other rifle.sorry but I’ve had serious accuracy issues with several detachable scope mounts. Unless it’s Blaser I’m done with it!

@Philip Glass - I've read a few times recently about you not recommending QD rings/mounts and would like to know the specifics if you would be willing to share. The advantages of the QD can not be denied for a traveling hunter or one that wishes to use a scope when hunting DG. I also find it useful for scope removal during cleaning to avoid solvent contact with the optic.

I've only personally used the Warne QD rings and they were great. I know other quality brands like Talley and Alaska Arms have a very good reputation for repeatability (return to zero) and are used by a lot of members with no issues. Is it possible that you got a bad set?

See if you can get your hands on a Dentler.

It is the Warne rings on my Ruger .375 Ruger that I’ve had trouble with twice now. When I had the .416 Ruger with Alaska Arms rings I never noticed a problem but it was only one safari with that gun.
maybe it’s just me but when you lose confidence in a set up it’s time for a change.
I’ve never heard of a situation where QD scope mounts would benefit me. I’ve also never personally heard of someone using it as intended. A unicorn of sorts IMO.

I have a Leupold 1.5-5x scope with Talley QR rings on my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery. I have over 400 full power rounds through it Never has it changed POA. I have taken the scope off and put it back on three times just to practice with the iron sights. It has never been more than 1/4" off at 100 yards after taking it off and putting it back on. Of course I re-sight in afterwards. Highly recommended.

Thanks!
How does it work with the scope, plenty of ER? Or have you had the scope thouch you?

I used custom QD rings to mount a Leupold VX6 1-6X (30mm tube) in my 404 Jeff Mauser. Too damned big and added over a pound to the rifle, making it less balanced. I got another set of the same rings (1" rings) and mounted a Leupold VX3 1.5-5X - much better. Good eye relief and bolt clearance and they hold the scope low over the action. I'd carry the bigger, heavier scope as a back up or mount it on my .375. The mounts were made to fit my rifle when Reto Beuhler built it. Goes on and off with no loss of zero at all.

I have my Brno 602s fitted with Warne QD mounts. Due to an over crowded safe, I remove the scope each time for storage. ie Removed and replaced dozens of times. Always returns to zero. I have been using the High height but have ordered a set of Medium height to try out.

Must be some big-ass rings to add so much weight:ROFLMAO:

I have a Winchester Custom Shop built M-70 takedown with 2 barrels .300 WM & .375 HH, each barrel has its own Swarovski scope. Quick detachable mounts are EAW barrels and scopes get changed as needed. I do not think I haver ever adjusted either scope in over 25 years. This rifle has been used hard, but will maintained over those years.
