Ok guys leaving soon. Just had to order new arrows in in heavier spine because with 150grn up front mine under spine. Should see them in a day which leaves me very little time to get the bow tuned and sight reset for the extra weight. Going from 9.7 to 11.1 gpi. Same dia arrows so tuning should take long. It's getting down to the wire and I'm packing stuff up. Late me know what I'm missing for a bow hunt..

8 broad heads with replaceable blades
4 extra blade sets
12 arrows
String wax
Field points
Extra d loop material
Diamond stone (resharpen heads)
Allen set
Extra nocks
Broad head wrench

Flash light
Head lamp
Rang finder
Extra battery
Extra string serving

How long before you leave?

What spine were your previous arrows and how many pounds are you shooting? I'm sure you probably have all of this figured out but I'd just double check your current setup so you don't go through a last minute headache for nothing. Good luck man. Get sighted in and just enjoy the trip

Was shooting 300 cut to 29 3/8" and have a tail left tear took out 50grn and the tear was gone. I stepped up to 250 and should be able to put the weight back up front. Leave in 11 days

You should be ok with time to dial in the new arrow setup as long as it's just minor adjustments and not having to replace your sight tapes or sight for that matter. Once you're all dialed in I'd also check broadhead flight just to make sure that all is ok. I'm no expert on any of this but that's what I would do

72lbs pull 30" . I'm pretty good with bows got a small shop, this bow just shoots to fast. I've had a lot of 72lb bows that tuned just fine with those arrows the power this bow makes just seems to put them under with the extra tip weight.

Makes sense. I also shoot a 70 pounder. Currently launching 582 gr arrows at 250 spine and a 200gr head. Good luck over there and I hope you're successful and have a good time

I took a spare string and a portable bow press with me on my first trip. Didn't need it and the press is probably unnecessary for RSA. I do plan on bringing it with me when I go to Zimbabwe as I don't expect to have a qualified pro-shop around. I also took a spare release just in case mine broke or got lost or was forgotten somewhere.

Extra release is always a great idea no matter where you are hunting. I'd also bring a spare range finder as I've had mine crash on me in the field. Not sure if it's necessary while hunting with your PH or not

How old is the string on your bow? Are you sure there will not be any issues with it?

I would guess that if you have a PH with you, he will have a range finder.

Bow is new only a week old my target bow a year old. Think the range finder is good I've gotten decent a guessing yardage too

Guessing yardage is easy with a target bow shooting lighter arrows. When you shoot heavier arrows, they will have larger pin gaps so errors in guessing are not as forgiving. Probably not an issue for you but would be brutal on my 1,250 grain arrows. Your PH would likely be good at yardage guesses too.

My target bow is slower then the hunting rig. I could only imagine the drop difference with the heavy arrows. As is my 20yard pin is only 13" low at 40

New arrows in and i had some time to shoot in the wind last night and rough resight in. Believe they are about 503grns ill get the chrono out tonight and see how much speed i lost and put some broadheads on amd see if i need to tune anymore.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
