Okay folks I'm doing another trip to South Africa but going to do it a little different this time. This time I want to carry my Crossbow rather than a rifle as well as my Compound Bow I have a heck of a layover in Doha before flying back to Johannesburg. does anyone know of any special transport reg's or temporary import laws I need to be aware of bringing archery equipment through these Countries? Thanks in advance.

I flew though Doha in August of 2017 but didn't bring a weapon. I think there was a guy that flew though there with archery equipment. I also think Phil is going through there this year. Are you flying Qatar?

Yes, First time to fly with them also, the flight really sucks arrive in Doha around 4:00 pm or so don't fly back out til 2:00 am long layover but no use getting a room.

They do have a bar in the airport. We had that big layover also. I can't sleep on planes and maybe dose a little in an airport. When I go again it will be South African or Delta. Might as well get the torture over with as quick as possible.

Cool that makes my day, least I won't go dry! LOL when you had your layover did you have to get your luggage or did it go straight through to Jburg before you had to switch to domestic flights?

My luggage went in through. Actually it was one of the nicest airports I've been in. They had sleep rooms but men and women had to be separate.

Wow that is cool not that anyone could sleep in there with my snoring! But I sleep good on the plane.

Never could figure out why everyone's eyes looked so blood shot after a 19 hr flight heck mine was fine.

Well I read through it and all I could find was issue's with firearms, has anyone flown through Doha with Archery equipment?

DEE S. Flew through Doha with archery equipment. He has posted in the Delta Flight 200 Atl-Jnb thread.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
