Hi All,
In the next few days we'll be launching our custom Courteney Boots on our web site. Just trying to get a feel for interest and options.

If you could create a CUSTOM pair of Courteney Boots what would you choose? Our favorite boot by far is the Selous, but are we missing something you'd like to see? Also, the typical wait for custom boots can be up to 6 months here in the US, but how long would you be willing to wait?

I ordered boots from Courtney direct this spring because they were cheaper to order and ship to Canada from the factory than the states. I just received them before Christmas. There were nothing but headaches and I feel sorry for Gale with everything she had to deal with from government red tape forcing them to ship from SA, to their whole shipment being stolen and having to re-manufacture everyone's orders. But the arrived as an early Christmas present and I cant wait to get them on the ground over there in March!

Moral of the story is don't expect them to come in a timely manner....

I'd be willing to wait 6 months in most cases, particularly if they could be customized to my liking. I bought a pair of the Selous at SCI last year and really like this boot for its intended purpose. But a couple of things I'd like to be able to do specific to my feet.

Setting that up at DSC or SCI and ordering there would be great even with the wait.

Our goal is to have the custom boots in our customer's hands within 120 days. We'll be at SCI with more information on the custom orders and obviously a pair or two for you to try on. I'll post the link for feedback as soon as we have that section developed on our web site.

For myself no time is worth waiting for a pair of boots. I can understand where some would like a custom pair of hiking boots but I can just go down to a store and purchase some that do me just as well for a lot less money and no wait.

This is Jim from African Sporting Creations. We ship Courteney boots all over the world and ship to Canada every month. We inventory more than 300 pairs across 10 styles in Ohio so if you know what you want you can order them on Monday and have them in as little as two days. While our inventory gets a little spotty after exhibiting at the DSC and SCI shows we try to keep all styles and all sizes in-stock year round. Yes they cost a little bit more coming from us as we have to spend on shipping, duties, clearance fees, etc. but if you have an issue you do not have to send them all the way back to Zimbabwe as we take care of them on this side of the pond. Thanks to all who weighed in on the survey!

i wouldnt be willing to wait, not because they arent worth it. but because no pair of Courteney boots is the same. i had to try on 4-5 pairs of the same size shoe before i found one that was a good fit. i love my Courteney boots but would not have bought them if i hadnt been able to try them on first (i bought them in Pretoria).

I agree with matt... try them on for perfect size and match before buying. In RSA, these boots are expensive. I will be back home in a months time, just prior to my elephant & buff hunt in Zim and will go to the local supplier of these boots, near to my home... they will HAVE to be a PERFECT match to warrant that cost!!

I wouldn't worry about buying them from African Sporting Creations. I did and the customer service was great. The first pair was the wrong size but they sent me out another pair before I got the first pair back to them! They fit fine now.

Pheroze,

Thank you for your kind words.

We try to give you reasons to buy from us and not the other way around. If you are unsure of your size or want to try on two pairs of the same size, then two pairs are yours for the asking and we do not charge you for the second pair. You simply select the one that works and send the other one back. While some folks are hard to fit we only had one of the more than 50 customers we sold Courteney boots to at DSC try on different pairs of the same size. If at the end of the day neither one fits, simply return for a refund assuming you wore them only on the carpet.

We go out of our way to avoid service with a snarl and in eleven years we have been in business we have sent out close to $1M of merchandise across all our categories as described above.

Jim

Jim, the problem right now for us North of the border is our dollar is climbing vs the Rand but dropping like a stone vs the greenback or I would have already ordered a pair .... if only I had won the powerball, all in US funds:)

Luckily here we get them over the counter.
The old and the new

great boot, I prefer the Ungrooved soles , I find the soles with grooves pick up small stones and make a noise when walking on rocks .

I agree 100% with @matt85 .

Update: The new section on our web site now live where you can custom order Courteneys if you want to check it out.

Cant really comment on waiting for custom boot as we purchase them over the counter in many different options. I have a pair of Elephant leather boots and they are great!

Is it possible to have the soles changed on existing boots from the aggressive cleat to the ripple?

Let me pose that question and get back to you.

Someone asked us today "If I wanted a pair of Courteney's, do I have to wait up to 120 days?" We answered "No" because we have over 400 pairs of Courteney Boots in stock and most will ship out the next business day. If you check out the web site, you'll see that we carry Courteney's most popular styles in sizes that will fit virtually anyone. We also offer expedited shipping if you need them quickly.
