Anybody hunt in Africa with corduroy boots?

I have a pair of Irish setters that are corduroy. Comfortable but don't know if I should buy leather

Never seen boots like this!!

Cordura sorry, I think I'll buy leather. These I don't believe will hold up to the thorns

+1

The thorns are crazy. I bet you will get stabbed through it. Btw bring a Leatherman to yank those suckers out of the soles of your boots too.

They do ok I had a pair with me but mine were a little more serious on the ankle support side of things than necessary so I ditched them for a lower top pair of leather Irish setters I had with me made of leather.

I realize now that you have already been to Africa - sorry my reply assumed this would be your first trip. I suspect you are already intimately acquainted with those thorns lol

I hunt in Russell PH's a lot and they have canvas ( as in cotton) tops. Cordura should be fine. The issue is the tongue and sometimes the ankle padding of many cordura boots which are often made of a polyester material which is apparently designed to vacuum up grass seeds. Light hiking shoes (look like reinforced trainers in subdued colors) are often made entirely of the wretched stuff. Within an hour the seed stems will work through the material and into your ankles and feet. Will drive you insane. I have a pair of cordura desert boots with leather tongue and collar which I am sure would do fine. Just like the PH's and Courtney's better.

I looked at the thread title and just had to look.

Mike's comment was following my own line of thought and poof I read your correction and laughed out loud.

Thank you, that lifted my spirits this afternoon.

Nothing wrong with light shoes as RedLeg noted, just look where you are putting your feet.
