I was curious if anyone has reloaded anything similar to these in their 470 for practice rounds

They're .476 diameter cast lead. Looks like they are good up to +/-2000fps which is plenty for practice rounds. I also have a huge supply of barnes 500 grain TSX which you can load down to 1700fps with the barnes load data, but I don't know if they will open on thinner skinned game like whitetail.

Not a 470, but I had some good luck with shooting cast out of a .416 Remington. Just keep the velocity down to minimize leading, or use a gas check design.

AA5744 works well as far as powders go, but I typically go the I- or H-4198 with fillers route to avoid brass getting dented by unburnt powder kernels.

Forgot to mention…I used the same bullets as shown in your post in a 41 mag, and they worked great with a nice dry and non-stick feel.

Thsnks. I may give them a try with, I also have a pile of hornady seconds and actual barnes TSX. I may try those as well. They show book loads down to 1700fps with powders like H1000 and n170, RL25. I have a pretty good bit of those powders. I think 1750-1900fps would make a nice pleasant small game load as well as practice. Basically a hopped up 45/70 load.

Yes, cast bullets work good. See also the following thread here on AH... Handgun bullets in a 470 NE?

Take a look at Bear Creek Supply, cheap lead bullets with a coating on them that prevents leading. They have a bullet for the 470 in the making, but have a 380 gr bullets that would work great as well.

I had looked at those for my B&M rifles. Then decided to use regular bullets as I felt the cost difference was not worth the hassle of developing new loads etc.. Now, I use coated lead bullets for pistol as I fire tens of thousands of rounds each year, however I am not going to shoot that many rifle rounds to justify the hassle (especially for a double).

That's kind of where I am leaning. I have about 600 tsx and 500 hornady seconds. That is a lot of double rifle shooting. Then I have a small supply of A frames for actual hunting.
