To those that use the leather cartridge pouches that slide over your belt, do you use the ones with flaps or without? I'm gathering my gear for a RSA safari and like the idea of a cartridge pouch, but don't have a clear thought on flap or not.

Thanks,

Don

I personally like the flap. I can get in mine quickly, with one hand, and without looking.

I use the c-1 and have two of them. One for my .30/06 and one for my
375. I also like that I can mix softs and solids in the top and bottom section and again grab want I need without looking.

Now if I was a PH with a double rifle i would probably do a no flap model, but as a client this suites me just fine.

I've used the leather one from Cabela's with no flap for my 375 H&H without any issues. Also it can be had at a great price. Good luck! R.

Mine is Leather fold out with a flap.
A personal thing really.

I personally like the flap, it keeps debris out of the ammo pouches. If you have a flap, make sure its silent. No velcro, or snaps. Mine is magnetic inside the leather, no noise.

Like the flap type. Prefer to have the elastic buttstock shell holder anymore.

The base and rim of cartridges is a very efficient tool to engrave the fine figured walnut on rifle stocks. The effect is not pretty. I prefer the "flap" models mainly for that reason.

I never took one .
Guess what , run out of ammo on a wounded oryx .
Only took one in the spout and one in the mag with me on the hunt .
Stupid !!!
Bought a leather ammo pouch with the flap on it from the ph .
Love it ,
Not only take one , bloody use it , not like dumb me .
Cheers dory .

I use one with a flap. I don't snap the flap though. But highly recommend any type of cartridge pouch. Because when you need one, you really need one.

Mine is a leather with flap, inside it has canvas bullet loops and holds 8 375h&h cartridges. Made by Joshua leather here in Australia. Very well made and works perfectly.

The biggest thing I can offer: no velcro and no snaps. Buttons, magnetic flaps - sure. Velcro is too noisy as are snaps.

The problem is having to grab spare rounds on the fly. At the moment of the shot it's hard for the animal to directly pinpoint where the shot came from. But the sound of brass hitting the ejectors...velcro, sneezing, etc. will immediately tell the game animal where you are. Ejectors are very cool but a number of game hunters prefer extractors just so they can remove the cartridges as silently as possible.

I personally use an uncovered elastic style belt slide with loops.

I make my own and while they may not be of the standard tht the big name makers produce, they cost me nothing and I can make them for all my rifles. No noise with this stud closure.

Mighty fine looking there VG!

I used leather ones with flaps from Ruger. You can get them in their online store. Very heavy duty.....will last a couple of life times. I will hand both of them down with the rifles to the next generation along with the trophies taken.

Murray leather no flap. Worked flawlessly in Caprivi. I can't see what the flap is for? It's just in the way when you need a bullet!

+1 for Els&Co.
Leather no flaps... i find it easier to get a round without flaps
i have both 5 round and 10 round pouches.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
