Build your dream, custom rifle

I would build a 10.75x68 on a Browning/Winchester 1895 action. I'd use a 24" medium weight Lothar barrel, fitted with Recknagel 2 leaf express sights and band swivel, a generous forend and buttstock to hold on to, with less drop, 14 1/4" pull, leather recoil pad on fancy dense grain European walnut with 20 lines per inch checkering. I'd have the sight regulated to dead on at 100 and 200 for a load of 400 gr projectile at 2100 fps.

Griffin & Howe 404 Jeffery based on pre 64 Winchester model 70 . Gh side mount, s & b zenith 1-4, Lyman 48 peep sight that does not need to be removed in order to facilitate scope. It’s a dreamy rig, compact given the power level, easy to carry all day, ridiculously accurate.

Since we're dreaming, I'd like a matched set of Heym 89 doubles:
  • 500 Nitro
  • 500/416 Nitro
  • 375 Flanged
  • 7x65R
It's only money, right?

I have absolutely nothing against the big names in the industry, but what I would genuinely cherish would be a 404J M98, or a Lee Speed, done up by VG. I’m trying to get pretty near the 404 myself, but I’d burn rubber if even his old 404 surfaced. I like him enough to not even ask if he’d build another, import/export troubles aside.

Hey Odinsraven. Is that post from Jefferry 404 legitimate? I don't know him. Thanks!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
