Good day AH community,
We once again find ourselves in the privileged position of being able to offer our clients two Brown Hyena safari's in South Africa for the 2026 season. This is always an exciting hunt for us and one that we limit each year to ensure the best possible chance of success for those determined to take on this challenging and rewarding hunt.
Throughout the season, even when we aren’t specifically hunting them, we put in a tremendous amount of work locating and monitoring these elusive animals. By the time a new season begins, we already have a solid idea of where the big, uneducated Brown Hyenas are moving about — and that homework makes all the difference when the real hunt begins.
Brown Hyena hunting is something we’re truly passionate about, and we’re fortunate to operate in some of the best areas for them — areas that benefit from virtually zero Hyena hunting pressure. We’ve never struggled to get them on bait when running “bluff” baits to gauge their numbers and movement.
Half the fun lies in maintaining the bait sites, but rest assured, we’ll have done a huge amount of pre-baiting before your arrival. Most seasons, we already have what we like to call our “Hyena Restaurant” up and running well in advance, essentially a carefully managed dumping site for any unusable bits collected during the safari season.
It’s a challenging hunt, make no mistake, long hours in the blind and unpredictable hyena schedules require patience and persistence. But for those who stick it out, success comes with a deep sense of accomplishment that’s hard to match.
This particular hunt will take place in the Limpopo Province, at one of our exclusive Limpopo home bases. Typically, thermal scopes are used for this hunt, which means there’s no need for conventional lights or similar setups.
Pricing for the Brown Hyena hunt will remain similar to our 2025 rates.
