Is Woodleigh going to rebuild?
Yes/No/Maybe,
There have been ”friends of the owners” posting on other forums on the Internet With updates, so I’m repeating hearsay, but the hearsay seems plausible.
The facts as retold on the Internet:
-The factory was not insurable in Australia due to the nature of their business so they do not have the capital to just write a check and build a multi-million dollar company instantly.
-They state Woodleigh Hydros should be available this year. My personal inference is that they were made at a another location or by a subcontractor making their resurrection the easiest and fastest.
-Their primary machinery was trashed by the fire. The secondary machinery, spares, and backups may not have been a total loss. They are going to wade through the spares and see if the motors are still good and if they can be reused.
-There is conjecture that it may make sense to have a business interest acquire them and bring the manufacturing into the States.
The way I read all of this in my own mind is that Woodleigh will never be exactly the same again, but some products will likely continue in their brand or likeness In the future.
In DIRECT reaction this information, I opted to have my Heym 470 regulated with Hornady DGX and DGS bullets (and A-Frames) so I would not be dependent on the traditional Woodleigh softs and solids as they go through a transition period to resume production that could take years or never.
