I think I mentioned in another post that we are sorting this out. I've been getting high pressure at starting loads. Smashing the snot out of primers, but without sticky bolt lift.
We have checked headspace and about everything that can be measured or poked to no avail.
At the moment, I'm charging 62.o grains of CFE223 and getting just under 2900 fps.

I haven’t tried the cfe223. Of the 3 Whelens I’ve chambered, I’ve found none to be choosy in the accuracy dept. if you are getting a lot of primer flow it’s probably due to the clearance Remington uses for the firing pin hole.
Hope you like the Hammer Hunters. My .338 Federal loves the 186gr Shock Hammers.
That being your criteria, you would have to naysay the .318 as well, would you not? Seems a lot of folk in Africa were pretty sold on it at one time...Just think how cool you will feel when you step up to real guns....
I wouldn't own A .35 at all. Three times the bullet selection in .338, and .375. Buying a .35 is like when you're young, and want to ride that 250cc dirt bike that the big kids do, but settle for a 150cc and try to pretend it's it's same anyway. A .35 is almost a .375, but it will never get any closer.....it will always, ALMOST be good enough....hehehe oh, hey Bob, didn't see you there.
My gun making buddy once said that steel being turned off a Shilen barrel curled off like butter, but trying the same with a Howa, it popped and gave indication of real hardness...he thought that was positive by the way.Bob, I knew that I had missed at least one name BUT I was quickly typing before going downstairs for my evening meal. Yes, the Howas are accurate and reliable. They are not cheap rifles. They are good rifles that are available at good prices due to high production volumes. Howa has built up volume by maintaining quality over decades, something that a number of gun company boards seem to have ignored.
I nearly bought a 1500 Mini rifle recently, in 7.62x39 but I came upon a minter second hand Izhevsk Bars (snow leopard) rifle at a very good price. That rifle supposedly has a 1-12” twist chrome lined barrel but it is possibly a 1-320mm (1-12.6”) barrel because the Dragunov rifles were originally made with that twist rate and it would have made more sense to use the original Dragunov barrel mandrels/buttons than to create new 1-12” tooling.
the 25'06 is a midget cannon...really kills things@hunting Gold
I can see that barrel coming off and a nice 26" 25 ought six barrel in your future.
Bob
the superior hemisphere is getting bit crowded for my tastes, at least in Texas...@Scrumbag
Superior to what, a Neanderthal. At least Australia has the OLDEST civilization in the world.

I think Bob believes that a 25/06 will almost penetrate the frontal Armour on a Russian tank!@steve white
That's why I love the fast 25s and the 35s. They just plain work no fuss no bother
Then, what are the SLOW 25s and 35s used for? LOL@steve white
