One of my outfitters just let me know that he has one opening left got his 2015 yacht based Alaska Mountain Goat. Goat hunting is never easy but this as easy as it will get. Based from their 50 foot yacht, with hot showers beds and home cooked meals it does not get any better.

Based from the boat you will head out each day glassing the hillsides from the waterways. once a big billy is spotted the rest is on foot. While Goat hunting is never easy this is probably as easy as you will get. I do recommend hunters be in decent shape and you should not have a problem. Average goats are 9.5" with some great hair. Hunt dates are Sept 30 to Oct 06, cost is $11,500 plus license and tag.

I've never shot an Alaskan goat but I have eaten it and it is surprisingly quite good.

Spanish goat (I have shot one of those) is very strong flavored - to put it politely.

Domestic billy goat meat is likewise quite strong flavored after they grow past the "kid" stage of their life.

For whomever books this one, also ask about fishing if you bag your billy in short order, and then have some days left on the boat.

Alaska has some very good salt water fishing, shrimping, crabbing and clamming in some remote coastal areas.

Sitka deer and both black bear, as well as grizzly are sometimes common along our same coastlines.

Very good deal on a boat based hunt. I've hunted goat in AK before and once you have done it, you WILL become a high altitude addict...
I'm guessing either Kodiak or Unit 5/6 area?

Good deal and would definitely be fun! I actually want a goat more than any of the various sheep. Need to get back in shape and do it before I get too old....

Good luck selling it James!

Man ... hunting mountain goat on a boat has got to beat climbing a stupid mountain!

Did one of these hunts years ago with Bruce Parker in SE Alaska in November. During this time, the coats are awesome, they are rutting and down low because of the snow accumulation. When I say low, I am talking only 100-300 yards from the beach.

Been fortunate enough living in Alaska to have killed 3 mountin goats and remember them vividly as they did not come without a lot of effort. One was over 10" on each side. Shot the 3 of them at between 3,500-4,500 ft. Glassing from a boat seems much simpler. Hope you get it sold.

Over 10, that's a nice goat.
Thanks, I am not much for wall hangings in my own home since I don't have the room but I did do a shoulder mount of this one since he made the sci book. A 9.5" average is a very nice goat for the hunt you are offering.
