So I've got a synthetic R9 Professional now and I do like it a lot, but find the14.5" LOP a bit lanky compare to the usual 13.5" LOP on my Winchester Model 70. I don't understand why the standard stock is so long.

I've looked at the other synthetic options, and the short synthetic stock is only a half inch shorter. This might be worth it if I can find one.

My question is: Can the standard LOP synthetic Professional stock be shortened and a recoil pad fitted?

Call Blaser USA in San Antonio and talk with their gun smith. He should be able to tell you if there is anything picular about shortening the stock, heck they may even do it for you.

I'm sure it can be done. Would require cutting the stock and filling the void with enough glass to give the pad something to screw to. Better have someone with the equipment do it.

I purchased an R8 shortly after they hit the market. I realized after removing the 1/2” R8 Professional recoil pad the 14” LOP was perfect for me. So I sent the stock to limbsaver, had them cut off 1”, reinstall the insert, and add a 1” grind to fit recoil pad for a total LOP of 14”. At the same time I had them make a 1/2” pad since my son was younger, still growing, and could use the R8 with a 7mm-08 barrel. I also had them make a 1 1/2” pad since I figured my boy was going to grow to be bigger than me, and that he would eventually inherit this rifle.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
