I am attempting to install a kick stop on my wife’s R8 Attache and it dose not have the screw in the stock to attach the kick stop. Any ideas or what am I missing?

HH

It screws into the receiver through the back of the buttstock. If memory serves correctly, there is a bolt that you have to unscrew and remove before you can thread on the Kick Stop.

Yes I’m familiar with the hex nut configuration but this has a Ridge style cap holding the action on the frame. I’m sure it needs a special tool or some yankee know how to remove.

Ours looked like it didnt have a screw, but the nut had more of a "cap" look than a traditional nut, which holds the stock on. It does remove (believe it has an Allen but it's been a minute), and then the kickstop threads on. I remember thinking the same thing, but the threads are under that nut/cap

Maybe a picture of the kick stop will help answer your question.

You can do it. The part wont be re-used once you install the kickstop, so don't treat it nicely. Shine a light on it and see what shape tool you need to remove it. I used some sort of screw driver, but I enjoy fixing things with the wrong tools. Mental challenge.

Here is a pic of the cover in question.

Just use a big screw driver. Picture of the nut is found on this link. All you need is a big long screw driver.

Update: Thanks for all the suggestions and PM’s on ways to get this done. I was finally able to get the cap off and it’s all taken care of.

Ok, now some of us expect the obligatory photo of the wife’s rifle! And what caliber? And where are you taking said rifle and said wife to hunt next!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
