Most of the geese I’ve seen have been Egyptian and spur winged. I think I saw a couple of Pygmy geese in Mozambique but we were too far for proper identification.I would love to know if there are some colourful birds like the hornbill that can be hunted. Heard pigmy goose can be hunted in some parts of South Africa but do not know if that is the case in the Limpopo. My Google searches are not really helping. Normally I can find almost anything with my internet searches but my skills are letting me down this time. Hopefully some members can chime in.
I have hunted guinea fowl, Francolin, sand grouse, teal, and Egyptian geese.Hello everybody. In @Moe324 expose of a hunting outfitter in Limpopo, he mentions hunting multiple species of hornbill. What birds and special permit birds can be hunted in Limpopo.
Would be a nice add on while hunting big game. Takes lesser space in the room after taxidermy work.
Blue Duiker Taxidermy (https://blueduiker.com/). He does amazing work! Thanks everybody for the information. Some great advice. If somebody knows a great taxidermist in South Africa that specializes in birds let me know.
That looks very good, best work I've seen yet on birds in South Africa. Only worrying that I is too far away from Limpopo. But will definitely ask what would be possible.Blue Duiker Taxidermy (https://blueduiker.com/). He does amazing work!

If all things work out next year I will be going to the Limpopo. Want to hunt some cool birds like for example the knob-billed duck and some hornbills besides some big game. But hard to find people who have good experiences with doing taxidermy on birds in South Africa.
I’ve had 35 or so waterfowl mounts shipped to me I Alabama from Wisconsin, Iowa and California. They came through just fine. It’s all in the crating and the poses. Standing ship better than flying. IMO. I guess if I was dead set on getting some African birds from my safari next year mounted I could buy specimens from a breeder here in the states. But I’m not into that sort of thing so if I can’t find an outstanding bird taxidermist in South Africa I will just take lots of quality photos.
