I'm planning on having 2 Winchester pre 64 actions built up, one in .308 Norma Magnum and the other in .358 Norma Magnum. Why? Just because I like to be different. I want custom stocks made and the whole works essentially. Who are some well-known and regarded smiths that are capable of doing this? Steve Durren is one name that has come to my attention already.

LRI in Sturgis for the metal work, re-barrel, action truing.
Canyon Creek or Jesse Kaufman for the stock work.
Glenrock Blue for rust bluing

Steve did the stock on my 404 and did a nice job. It is my understanding during our last conversation that he is now retired. I can suggest Stuart Satterlee, and Ben Piper as both have done or are currently working on projects for me.

Hello Paul, Happy New Year!!! To answer your question, and in my opinion, there is only one person to go to! Leroy Berry at Canyon Creek!
He did my Pre-64 375 and I was shocked at what I got back from what I sent!
LeRoy is one of the best if not the best there is!
Trust me pic’s don’t do justice…
He does full builds, not just stock work, impeccable!
And I’ve just sent him another Pre-64 in 300 H&H, that shows you how good his work was on the 375…

Justin at Pre64 Win would be a good option. I see you're in Texas, Jo-e at Gordy & Sons or Kerry at MG Arms are good local options

I have been drooling over the stocks on their webpage for sure. Thats a beauty for sure.

Reto Buehler. But there are many competent, top end custom rifle makers out there.

Paul Mauser would never approve of the use of a Winchester action!
