Been a dream all my life to go to Africa

Welcome to AH 7.62stu! Lots to learn and discover here, I'm sure you'll enjoy the site and our community.

Welcome aboard! Hope you get to pursue that dream!

Welcome! Make your dream a reality! It can happen.

Welcome 7.62stu! You'll only get to Africa if you commit to a date. You'll never regret going, but will always regret not going.
Best

Welcome to AH.
Former Rhodesian?! They are still Rhodesian. :)

Welcome to the enabling site! Its a dream until it becomes a reality. Everyone here dreamed of it for some time, I dreamed of it since I started reading Ruark in the 60's. Made my first trip to Tanzania in 1985, and making my second trip to Namibia in about 6 weeks.

  • Welcome, beware it is addictive. Forrest

7.62stu, once the African Hunt bug bites the outcome is almost inevitable, it just takes sufficient time to fester. Stick with us for a while and the itch to go will get worse and worse. Only one word of caution, don't wait too long to scratch that itch. Where do you live, what type of hunting have you done?

Welcome!

Quit dreaming about it and book a hunt with one of the great sponsors on this site! You can feel comfortable with these guys as you can read numerous reports about each of them here from members that have hunted with them. Good, bad or in between it's in the reports. Don't think you can afford it? Can't get away from work? Book for 18 or 19 and save a little here and there, drink Walker Red instead of Blue(blasphemy I know)! Food is overrated as hell, you can miss a couple meals each week, the kudu back strap on the braii is ample reward for a little suffering it takes to get there! Tell your boss you booked a Safari at least three days before you plan to leave, this will usually give you three full days off before your trip to make sure you packed everything. You can always grovel for your old position back after your trip, or just find a new one when you get back. It is much more relaxing to hunt without worrying about the real world.
One of my First Sargents gave me some great advice once, he said "Son, two rules you need to live by, 1. Don't worry about the small s**t and number 2, its all small s**t". So go hunt Africa is what he was really getting at! I'm glad I'm a good listener!
Cheers,
Cody
Disclaimer: following the above advice may get you fired, divorced, malnourished or any combination there of. Also bullthrower338 does not recommend substituting a premium single malt scotch under any circumstances, there are better ways to save money.

Welcome to AH !

Just Go.
The only trouble is you will want to go again.

If money is a factor, consider a cull hunt. I just completed a cull hunt and it may have been my funnest trip of them all. If that is the way you go, find a cull hunt that offers several different species so that you broaden your experience.

Welcome to the forum and have fun!

Welcome! A word of advice, don't waste any more time thinking about it. Just do it. So many other things can happen in life to derail you, particularly, your health. I just went after 5 years of dreaming and over planning. I will not make the mistake of waiting that long again. Good luck!

Welcome to AH sir!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
