Now that DSC is moving in '25 to Atlanta for 5 years, what other hunt shows are available in TX in addition to Houston Safari Club? What shows are available on a reasonable drive outside of TX?
I haven't been to that show. Is it more whitetail and high fence oriented? I would like to find more hunt shows than my standard DSC...it's great but I don't know if I'm going to Atlanta.
Its a mix of things.. lots of "local" offerings ranging from pigs to deer to exotics.. but also lots of other North American (including Canadian) outfitters on the floor selling everything from mountain lion to bear to salt water fishing expeditions..
from a gear/equipment perspective it is much more "local" focused.. several deer blind manufacturers, UTV/Offroad vehicles to look at, etc..
There are also an increasing number of international outfitters manning booths there (albeit still the minority).. 5 or 6 years ago when I first went to TTHA in Ft. Worth there were only 3 African outfitters present (1 is a sponsor here).. this past summer I counted 12..
TTHA isnt the sort of show I'd travel across the country to see.. but if local to one of their show areas (they do one in Houston, and one in San Antonio as well I believe in addition to the DFW show).. its worth walking around for a few hours on a Saturday just to see whats out there and who might have a really good deal available as a "show special" (I got really close to booking a mountain lion hunt in New Mexico this past show.. but decided to hold onto that money for the next Africa hunt instead... and a few years back Aimpoint ran an incredible deal on one of their optics.. selling it for about 50% of MSRP... I grabbed one of those at that show)..
Personally I stopped going to the TTH show years ago because it seemed like booth after booth of high fenced breeder pen whitetail hunts.
Not to say there aren’t other good options at the show, but as mdwest said it’s not the kind of show I’d travel across the country for…. Hell I wouldn’t make the 1.5hr drive for the show.
