Army & Navy 12ga Jungle Gun ?

Had to cut some trees down & up for a friend who has a Peacock & Canadian Geese problem, so took the A&N Jungle Gun which was most likely used on Peacocks back in the day & my Big Tolley 8 bore, managed to shoot Geese & Peacocks with both, the A&N 12ga struggled a bit on the Geese & had to shoot them on or just off the ponds.

For goose shooting, you will want tighter chokes than the improved cylinder boring on the Jungle Gun. Great shooting, Sarge

I prefer #4 for peacocks, BB for bar headed geese & AAA for greylag geese.

Thank you.

Yes correct on the Jungle Gun & Goose shooting but I have regularly shot rabbits over 40yds with it & I used #4 & #3 on the Peacocks & #3 & #2 Geese, I think at least BBs are called for, saying that the 8Bore smoked the Geese way out with #3s but twice as much shot in each shot lol !

What size are the Bar Headed & Greylag Geese compared to Giant (not sure what ours are but they are twice the size of the Geese I saw in Alaska) Canadian Geese ?

Had a Quick Look & the Greylag look very much like our Feral Geese which build up to problem birds also ?

Also ours are meant to be B. canadensis maxima. so Giant Canadian Geese !

Hi, Sarge.

These are our bar headed geese. They weigh just over 5 LB.

These are our greylag geese. They weigh about 6 Oz heavier than bar headed geese on average. But I have also seen bar headed geese which are heavier than greylags.

They are extremely devastating towards our maize fields, but their diet of maize makes them exceptionally good eating.

If I could only eat two types of wild game meat forever, it would have to be bar headed geese and impala.

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.
