You may remember market hunting as unsustainable, however with proper regulation, recreational hunting was made sustainable. There are certain places where it could be nessecary. Feral hogs for example. Also, would you like heritage hunting species to be turned into livestock? Farmed venison and other species are now being sold in restaurants and markets. limeted forms could be like regulated and/or for exotics only

In this context what is "market hunting"?

Local grocery store makes a mixed venison sausage that that is Axis from New Zealand if I remember correctly. I've seen where in Texas they are trapping hogs and selling them to slaughter houses. So I'd say it is being done in some fashion now.

Still clear as mud.
There are an awful lot of folks around the world earning a living from hunting of all sorts.

I am not sure what the question is really asking.

I think the idea is whether we could hunt to supply the markets with wild meat. I doubt we could in the way they used to hunt bison, turkeys or elephants. But, they do practice a form of it in South Africa, where the meat from trophy hunts is sold into the food system.

"Bush Meat" - the ultimate commercial hunting.

Wonder what happens when you don't get to keep the meat yourself? It's sold.

Most European countries from what I understand follow the model.

South Africa and Namibia produce wild meat for consumers (both export and internal) on a regular basis.
"Cull Hunts" are done all the time.
They manage their property and resource.

Kruger used to cull Elephant and can the meat for consumption. Now the animals starve and die while people go hungry.

Botswana anyone?

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ
