I’ve been a deer hunter for @50 years and just started crossbow hunting a few years ago and I’m totally hooked. Great people and a wealth of info on Crossbow Nation forum. Stumbled onto this site as I also won a “free” hunting trip to SA. I will say that I always had Africa on my bucket list but never thought I would be able to swing it. The research I’ve done so far has surprised me as to how affordable it can be. The worst is the long plane ride. Looking forward to going through the different posts and hopefully book a trip for next year with my son.

Which outfitter did you win the hunt with?

Welcome aboard, there are plenty of us here from the Northeast.

Good day! Welcome to AH! Enjoy your trip to SA! I'm sure you won't be dissapointed!

Johan

Welcome @Steveset. You have come to the right place to learn about African hunting.

Hercules Safari, still doing some research and welcome any advice. I’m going to use a crossbow which may limit some of my game choices. It appears Dries Visser Safari specializes in bow hunting. Anyone have any experience with them?

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
