Ok everyone, just trying to share my excitement here. I’m about 6 weeks out for my second attempt at leopard in Namibia. Baits are just being hung in an effort to see what’s in the area and possibly hold a big male in the area. Been hot there so baits are spoiling quickly and need to be replenished often. Pictures are being sent to me regularly showing stands bait sites etc.

Today I received these photos and just wanted to share them.

Will take a gander at them. I'm sure you've mentioned it already but what caliber you taking on your date with Mr Spots?

300 wsm with a Trijicon and my 270 wsm with a Leupold illuminated reticle.

Oh man, that's exciting and will get the blood pumping!

That'll get your juices flowing. Good luck, hope he hangs until you get there.

Awesome, gets you excited. Hope he stays around till you get there. I have my first hunt coming up in 4 weeks for buff. Like you I’m sure it’s hard to sleep seeing great pics.

I’m excited for you!

Oh wow! I can't imagine how exciting that must be! I'm looking forward to reading all about it.

Those tracks really put the animal size in perspective! Wow!

So here is a question: (Lord willing) would you rather take Mr. spots early in the hunt and then have no pressure extra days? Or hunt hard and find success on the last day?
(I have never hunted for leopard, but I have some mixed memories of Deer hunts and filling tags on the last day or not at all)

How long ago was the last rain? Those tracks are in mud.

Will the water in that danged pot ever boil? I hope you have better luck this go around.

Best of luck on your buff hunt.

Good question, I hunted leopard back in 2015 in Namibia unsuccessfully, it was 14 long long hard days. Long hours in the stand ,checking baits and hunting PG on the way. My answer is to your question....I’d love to shoot him the first day! I’ve waited 4 years to hunt him again and although I have been back to Africa on two other hunts my desire to harvest Mr.Spots has always been on my mind.

Two days ago. If you go to the video media you’ll see him on film. Captured Thursday night.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
