Who makes a hunting rifle in the classic style for under $4000?

You know....walnut stock, classic action(98 Mauser, Win M70, 1917, CZ, etc), barrel sights, barrel band front stud, rear inlet stud, etc

More important would be the flawless feeding and stock fitting.

Montana Rifle Company

I would assume any of the big 4 in the US (Remington, winchester, ruger or browning). Through their custom shops. Or just go custom. As previously mentioned, I have read nothing but good things about Montana rifle co.

Second that. I've got one of their 30-06 American Heritage. Beautiful piece and it shoots. Got a 404 Jeffery on order. Both under 2k each.

Montana Rifle Co.
Hart Custom Rifles ( problem is , they use a Remington 700 action , last time l spoke to them )
Hill Country Rifles

What is a clunky stock?
I used a Winchester take off stock. Woods is not clunky, the receiver is what I would call clunky.

It is in 300WnMag. A Shilen barrel and it shot well, just not smooth at all. It went down the road.

Any true custom maker will use a action you specify. If they cant, that's a red flag for me. I look for Smith's who have experience in various actions but specifically the caliber I want.
I wont trust a primarily short action mith to a big bore...

Cooper Rifles Custom Classic is a fine, highly-accurate rifle featuring AAA Claro walnut and an ebony tip. Most plains game calibers run about $3350. You can add inlayed sling swivels for $190, a quarter rib site for $350, a hooded front site for $250, etc. I have one in a 375 H&H (shown in smaller photos), which I don't believe they make any longer.

So, what is the price of the color cased rifle?

That depends on how much case coloring you want. For example, on my rifle, I have case colored metal ($680), CC Talley rings ($295), CC grip cap ($65) and CC magazine floor plates ($39), so I've got about $1,080 in coloring on top of upgraded wood and a checkered bolt knob.

You can also get CC sling swivels ($250)

Deleted member 11879, So with that, the upgraded wood, checkering, and checkered bolt knob you have a minimum of $6500-$8,000 in your rifle.
It is a nice rifle, a real keeper.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
