Those are/ likely have been subject to a lot of abuse. From rough, high altitude landings to taking AK ground fire from Maoist holdouts still roaming the mountains. I could see the drug cartels…. errraaa… I mean some NGO picking those up for use in Mexico or SA.

:) Maybe 30 years ago I remember seeing similarly designed/looking aircraft flying around parts of rural AK. I think Russia had unloaded a bunch of used ones onto the open market. They were being used for remote freight transportation. Haven’t seen any lately. ???

A Chicom built aircraft flown (and perhaps maintained) by a 3rd world airline that flies into the most remote, high altitude, short airstrips on earth? Yah, good luck with the sale!

Your probably thinking about the Cessna 208 Caravan. Looks similar with high wing, tricycle gear and large side cargo door. Still lots of 208's around today...

“Frequent mechanical issues”. Nepal airlines apparently doesn’t understand advertising, but I appreciate the honesty.

“Excellent airframe for keeping your mechanics skills up!” Might have been a better approach…
:D

Not Caravan. However the Chinese made planes for sale do look similar to the Caravan- just more chunky/clunky. Saw a couple of Caravans sitting at the airport in Dillingham and one at King Salmon a couple months ago. They still had the old Penair paint scheme. Those old Russian planes sold to the market back in the early 90s were also clunky looking. Saw a couple of them transporting freight in the Kuskokwim drainage area between the AK Range and McGrath. They were not part the the NAC fleet. Just can’t remember their name/model. The only possibility I come up with is the Antonov An 2 biplane ??

A Cessna Caravan with 16 skydivers + pilot crashed off a runway outside Melbourne t'other day, only one serious injury, I believe ...

I probably rode in one of those planes on one of my trips through Lukla airport :>)))

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
