Hey Guys,

I can't get any CCI BR2 primers anywhere here in the colonies. Which primers do you suggest I use that are comparable..?

Thanks,
Doc.

the federal 210m large rifle primer is hard to beat I also use rem 9 1/2 and tula 7.62 nato primers -- (kvb762 is the part number) all with good success.

the federals have a slight accuracy advantage in my guns but the tula 7.62's are right behind them.

I am sure you are aware but with any component change it is wise to back off the load and work back up.

Anybody tried RWS large rifle primers, part # 5341..?

Your current CCI BR2 primers has a "Power Average" of 4.37. The Federal GM210M suggested is 4.64. The Remington 9 1/2 LR is 4.75 and the rest of the primers mentioned I don't have ratings for.

The closest "Power" to your current primers will be CCI 200 LR (4.28). Use ANYTHING else and then re-do your load development will therefore be your only option.

I interchange CCI BR2 and Fed 210 with my 308 loads with no change to load, but I would still caution you to drop your charge weight some and see how your own rifles respond.

What are you loading ?

Thanks guys. Problem is that RWS # 5341 is all I can get at the moment and don't know them at all. There are no friggin' CCI BR2's anywhere in Africa..! I'm loading S&B brass, 155gr Sierra Palma's with 44.5 grains Somchem S 335 at around 2850 fps.

All RWS is quality gear so I would be happy to use them if they were more easily available here in Oz. I'd rate their brass equal to Lapua and better than Norma. Go for it.

Unless your benchresting you probably wont notice a difference. Changes in brass make more of a difference for me. The only way to tell is load some up and shoot a group.

S&B brass and its shape of their primer pockets is a bit different to other brands . That can cause problems , when you are seating RWS - primers . It is better to equalize the primer pockets and remove the excess material from the pocket with a reamer. I do all my reloading for metric catridges with RWS -primers ( 5341 and 5333 for the Magnums ) and they work great .

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
