Good day everyone, this is my first post here besides my introduction, so help a guy out.
Hears the deal, I had a Winchester African Safari in 375h&h and ended up selling about 7 years ago after suffering a major concussion. Well recently I bought a New unfired Browning Xbolt Medallion in 375h&h with a bunch of ammo, several sets Browning scope mounts in different heights and for 1" and 30mm tubes. It's the Medallion model without sights or crossbolts in the stock. It's kind of a lightweight package, I'm not sure the exact weight but much lighter than my old Winchester so im worried about the stock taking the recoil and possibly splitting the wood. Here is my thoughts, finding a Smith who'll drill and add crossbolts, replace the factory recoil pad with a Backfire recoil pad and mount my scope.
I'm located in the North Houston TX area and looking for someone whos trustworthy and competent to do the work. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Gordy and Sons in Houston deals in a lot of “Safari” caliber rifles… their gunsmith will be able to do the work for you…

Before you do that, contact Browning and make sure the gun does not have internal crossbolts like Weatherby rifles. Drilling into a hidden internal steel crossbolt would surely make a mess. Likely it would destroy the stock.
