Good morning, let's see if you can confirm whether Hornady is producing .243 Winchester Super Short Magnum cartridges. A friend told me the other day, and I'm a bit skeptical. If it's true, I hope ammunition for that cartridge arrives in Spain.

Thank you

The WSSM, WSM and all the other short magnum cartridges were solutions to questions that no one asked. And not unlike the current craze of PRC’s. There is nothing new under the sun.

I agree with @spike.t about the .243 version being solely to stoke the hate of @Bob Nelson 35Whelen.

As I often quote .....DG calibres were sorted before the Great War PG before the second. The only useful calibre since is the 17HMR allowing for rabbits and foxes .....

How can you say such a thing? Everyone knows the world couldn’t survive without the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Ammoseek shows Hornady 75 grain varmint loads and 100 grain Winchester game loads.

Never heard of it.... must have been created to piss off @Bob Nelson 35Whelen :E Rofl:

I think the line up (22,243& 25) WSSM were created to piss people off. Winchester in their usual manner hyped them up to be the next greatest item but knew all along it would flop.
Lots of gullible people bought them now struggle to find ammo for them and are left with rifles with an action that's no good for any other cartridge. Just good for scrap metal value.
Good idea in theory but couldn't dethrone the older cartridges.

@Odinsraven
And the 17 isn't doing anything that the 22mag hasn't been doing for years.
If you want a good little 17 then the 17 Hornet made by Remington. Can be reloaded cheaper than factory 17 HMR, gives better range and hitting power

Don't worry about being marooned.
Uncle Donald might buy Iceland as well if'n he can get a good deal on Greenland. He might try a bundle deal.

I kinda like the 243 wssm never had a use for it I. Had the 6mm. But the wssm was close to the 6 than the 243.

I actually think the 243 and the. 257 wssm would have taken off if they would have been on the wsm case. That way they would have been closer to the 240 and 257 wbm
They might have offered enough more to been. Worth while.

I kind of have a soft spot for the 270 and 325 wsm
But only in a blr takedown model ( so I guess it’s the rifle more than the cartridge)

Had a buddy that got a browning in the 25
He ask what I thought. Said it was a good 25-06 copy
But I would go ahead and buy a few caes of ammo for it now.
He found the load it liked the Winchester 95 silver tip I think.
He bought 2 cases
When the gun shops stopped carrying the guns and ammo.
One in town sold him there last 3-4 cases of that load at cost.
He still uses it some his son likes it.
he tells me that every time his son takes it out he thinks of me telling him to buy ammo by the case.

I would rather a good 22 mag over the 17 hm any day.
That 17 gr bullet makes a mess of squirrel and rabbit even with head shots. The 22 mag 40gr fmj does well on small game
But can punch well above its weight class to.

I have a buddy that the only handgun he has
He keep 2 50gr hp in it followed by 4 40gr fmj
As his bed side gun
His carry gun and changed over to all fmj as a hog gun.

Oh there was one other option where I thought the 25 and 243 wssm had it good.
There were some ar15 uppers in them.

So that power in that rifle was not bad.
The 243 with 55 fmj would be hell on armor

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
