A video of one of the tarpon

Awesome! How much do you figure that fish weighed?

Mine was estimated at 100. Not sure if that's my fish the sky looks right but don't remember the ocean being that smooth. Jim got alot of videos of tarpon I will have to ask him. Anyway they jump like crazy and actually one around 50 is a lot of fun.

Awesome jumps. Where did you catch him?

Nicaragua at the mouth of the San Juan river

No fish more exciting than a tarpon. Beautiful video! I feel like that one might be a smaller one with as much air as it caught. In my limited experience the bigger ones don't jump as much or as high, minus the first jump when the realize they are hooked.

Outstanding!!! Have yet to land one. I have dodged thrown hooks, wrapped pilings, bridges, and the prop, but never yet touched one I have brought in.

With that air time, the Michael Jordan of fish?

@Red Leg They are the damndest things to land, aren't they? I've hooked up to 10+, and we've actually put hands on ONE. We leader landed two more of them, but they were still to feisty boatside to get hands on.

BUT there are no other fish as amazing as a tarpon when it makes that initial leap when it realizes it's got a hook in it's mouth.

Here is some pictures of a small. He really jumped like crazy

Wow, makes me want to try my hand at one, although trout fishing is more in my ability!

The video of the ONE tarpon I've ever actually landed. Glad the video doesn't have sound :S Rant: It was maybe 60 pounds or so, and took me about 20 minutes to wear down enough to get hands on. You'll see it jump next to the boat a few times when we were trying to get hands on it. If you like a challenge tarpon fishing is for you. It's about 75% luck and 25% skill/reaction. With the right guide they can talk you through it, but being quick enough to "bow to the king" when they jump is tough, BUT all that said there is no other fish I would rather catch.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
