A Tribute To One If Our Own, golam Habib Dulal

@Hunter-Habib is one of my dearest friends and mentors who has taught me so very much! It is so rare and who amongst us can lay claim to taking not one but three man eating tigers in our life time!!! I highly recommend his book Baagh Skirari book which translates The last tiger hunter. Golam is a tribute to us all. As for me I am honored and privileged to call him my friend!!!!!
@Rare Breed
You will get no arguments from me on that one.
He is a truly knowledgeable and humble man

Thank you everybody for your kind words of appreciation. I truly am never bothered to correspond with any of you whenever you chose to reach out to me. I rather consider it to be an immense privilege to dialogue with so many like minded individuals who share the same interests as myself. My father always says "If you can help even ONE member of your fellow man, why won't you ?". As a matter of fact, I have learnt more from each & everyone of you than all of you put together have learnt from me.

@Ontario Hunter "I.G.F" means "Inspector General of Forests". Depending upon which government body is/was in power, the person in charge of all of the nation's forests is either designated as this or as the CCF (Chief Conservator of Forests). You are elected for this position. I served two terms as CCF from 1993-2000 before I became an MP (Member of Parliament). Then, I retired from politics in 2005.

My current post is a temporary one appointed by the interim government's Ministry of Forests. They had shortlisted a group of potential candidates to tackle the large scale poaching issues which had become rampant during the recent civil war. I was not told how many candidates were approached in total. But I initially politely refused to take the post when they approached me on August 7th (two days after the previous government was overthrown). I don't know what the other candidates said. But later, the Ministry approached me again and told me that it would be a very big help if I took this responsibility at least for a year. So that I would train the newly formed anti poaching units and problem animal control units for the various forest department's across the nation. I can step down next year after a younger (and hopefully more qualified) IGF is found. I intend to step down as soon as a suitable replacement is found. This IGF business is a young man's game. I am fortunately of sound body & mind. And I don't suffer from any ailments. But I want to spend time with my family, hunt & (most importantly) keep going on my African Safaris.

In regards to the reason for the civil war, I am afraid that this is a very very long topic for this thread. If you look at my posts in the "Politics" thread from August, then you will find my lengthy assessment on the matter.

I talked to the publisher, wish we could centralize our orders, as it seems a immense undertaking to number of print books, ship money and books to/from Bangladesh in hard copy additions

I'm open to the idea of centralizing orders. That would be at least 2 to TX.

I too reached out to publisher about a copy. If something develops on this front, let me know, or I can just place the order and send out when all copies come into my office.

I haven't reached out yet for a single order. I can proceed that direction or work a group buy with others.

@Hunter-Habib as a relative newcomer to the forum, I pretty quickly could identify several notable members who routinely make meaningful contributions. Those who teach, share, educate, and encourage. They tend to do it always with class and courtesy, and are even more effective by their demeanor. If I may offer without offense, I think of them as some of the "Elder Statesmen" of the forum; those who many of us look up to, admire, and listen to very carefully. You are certainly a member of that select group and I really appreciate your sharing of extraordinary memories and life circumstances. Bravo, sir!

Let’s try to get a head count of those interested, shipping to my rural ranch location is also a hurdle for me ( when I shipped boots to the USA from Africa I had problems because DSL didn’t ship to my location)

Well, given I was the one who did the bulk order earlier this year, I can volunteer to do it again if there is an interest. I'd like there to be at least 25 copies spoken for before placing an order. This will be for US addresses only.

If this is something the group is interested in, I can 'open' the books again to take everyone's info. The way it worked last time is that I kept the books open for a period of time, collected names, then closed them and placed the order. It took about 3-4 weeks to get the books to me, and then I took payment and shipped books as payment came in. Yes, it was probably a little slower on our end to get the books, but I am sure Mr. Shah appreciated only making one trip to the post office versus the 15 special trips I made to get them to our friends here ;-)

Having said that, if you are interested, please:

1) Send me your name, address, email, preferred payment method (check, Zelle, Paypal F&F, Venmo) and number of books you would like to me by private message.
2) I will confirm your reservation with a unique order number.
3) I WILL NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT AT THIS TIME.
4) Once I have the books in hand, I will reach out to everyone on the list and will then accept payments and ship the books.

Reach out to others you may know on the forum to let them know. I will reach out to Mr. Shah to let him know there may be another bulk order in the works.
