Frankly, this may not be the right forum. If not, and you are an admin: please move it. Thank you.

My youngest and I leave for Africa at the beginning of June for a week and a half of hunting. She hasn't really shot since caribou season in September. (She killed a fat cow at 200+ yards with a nice shot.) Yesterday was a decent day - around 30, sunny, very little wind. So we went to the range. It was just a very short reacqaintance session for her - a handful of shots from the bench. I piddled with a load I have been working up for what I plan to take. And while she waited on me, she got to shoot the Kel-tec for the first time (She liked it; so do I).

Her first two shots were wide right. Lack of focus? Cold? (She forgot her jacket despite dad reminding her.) But then she put 4 shots in a little over an inch, so that got the confidence off to a nice start. When it warms up in April, we'll spend a lot more time at the range, and I'll have her start shooting from a tripod. For now, it was just a fun day to be out, and we had the range all to ourselves. Her load - she has killed caribou and a large brown bear with it - has 150 Partitions over RL15. Mine that I am working up for my .300 Savage (Savage 99) has 180 grain Accubonds.

It feels weird to say this: I wish the time would slow down a bit. My plan is to go again (and again) after this trip, but nothing is ever guaranteed, right? So I want to enjoy the build up before we actually go.

@Tundra Tiger you are correct. It's been said many times on this site by many members. All the research, planning and preparation is part of the fun with a safari hunt. Then the hunt happens, usually with wonderful results and memories. But it all goes by too fast and then the cycle starts all over again. Enjoy the moment(s).

BTW, I am really looking forward to reading your report on the hunt with you and your daughter at @GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS

@Elkeater ... Mine was going to be like yours, back in 2020: both of us and the first time for both. Covid stole that trip. I went in 2021 by myself; she was unable to go. In 2020 I had chosen @GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS because of what I thought they could provide her - she was coming off serious leg and foot surgery. I stayed with them for my trip. Now? I have been there and was DELIGHTED with everything I saw and I know she will have a terrific experience with them. I also scheduled us for more days than my trip.

I am excited to think about what's in store for you and your daughter. And @375 Ruger Fan ... Thank you for the kind words. I will certainly write up a report.

Dads and Daughters, they should have a section called that. Great to hear of your respective trips TT and 375. I am taking two of my daughters on a stag hunt in Scotland in September, a bit of grouse too. Then we all come back for the tiger fishing tournament on lake Kariba in October.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
