Gents,

I've recently acquired a BRNO 21H in 7x57 (lucky me right :-)

160g partitions with Reloader 19 as IMR and H 4350's are now banned in the UK from this summer, as well as H414 I believe, so RL19 seems the best alternative with continuous supply.

Irrespective, Nosler data stipulates min and max at 43.5 and 47.5...but Reloaders official website suggests a 160g load at around 51g !!

I'm not a subscriber to any load data sites as I've never needed to, but I'd be hugely appreciative if anyone here have any pet loads for 7x57 with 160g and RL19,,or can find me some more trustworthy min/max data I can go by.

Thanks in advance.

Best to all

P

ps. no need for caveats around safety and work up loads safely, watching for pressure signs, etc. etc. I'm aware ;-) LOL..

I just looked at the AlliantPowder.com website and they only list RL-19 for a 160gr Speer SP with a max of 49gr @ 2,570fps using Remington cases and CCI 200 primers.
I believe this is manufactured in Sweden.
Can you get powders from Australia? I understand Western Powders and Ramshot are manufactured in Australia.
Best of luck in your search!

Why in the world is H4350 banned in the UK? I'm not trying to hijak your thread, just that you mentioned it, and it has me very curious.

IMO just stick to the Nosler data. There is no need to hot rod the 7x57. My rule of thumb for the cartridge is load to an approximate velocity range. I know these work with Partition bullets. 140-150 gr- 2500fps, 160 gr- 2400 fps, 175 gr- 2300 fps. Bell killed a train load of elephants shooting the 7x57 with 173 gr military ball ammo at about 2300 fps. The 150 gr Partition @ about 2500 fps is very efficient for deer and elk. Besides the IMR 4350 powder in the 7x57, I also like the slightly faster powders like IMR 4064 and H. Varget (or it's ADI OZ equivalent- 2208).

Congratulations on a wonderful rifle and caliber Fiocchi.

Just a word of caution. The Model 21&22s were built on small ring M98 clones, iow you can not get all the hoarse power out of the round. Try and stay under 50K psi. Around 1949, and at about serial #23000 they changed the round receiver to a DSB with dovetails, and a boltguide was added, in addition to the spoonhandle being altered to accomodate use with a scope. Barrel length was 20,5" or 23,5"

In my of the short barrel version, I have achieved good results with IMR4064 and Somchem S355. AR2208 should perform well as well, as will Reloader 15.

Two of my Mod21s. The one with the open sights is the 7x57 and the later model is a 6,5x57
