50 cal TC hawken for Africa

You need to have a local acquire them for you ahead of time if you are flying.

Not sure what is available in RSA but your PH should be able to come up a plan.

I haven’t done it myself but one of my gun club members has done 3 safaris with double 54 cal muzzleloader that he built himself.
The safaris were in different countries so it should be possible to get powder and caps.

I thought about taking my inline but I ended up just taking my 30.06. I would just have your ph buy the stuff you want a month before you go so you know it's in hand. Might cost little more than home but it would be sweet to roam Africa with a front loader. Good luck and let us know what happens.

It has been a few years but, the powder I was able to source in Namibia was the Wano brand (FFg) made in Germany. Turns out the same powder carries the Graf & Sons sticker on the can in the US. There was no change in point of impact switching from GOEX to Wano but, could be a different story if switching from a modern substitute to black powder.

CCI #11's were the only cap available at the time so that is the size nipple I used in my T/C Renegade.

If you put your bullets in the case with your smoke pole be prepared for questions in the airport since it will look like loaded ammunition to the untrained eye on x-ray. The mention of Daniel Boone helps explain a lot.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
