458 Winchester Magnum

As a smith every rifle is just a kit to me. However if you start with a poor kit well you get the picture. I am not particular to any brand but never had a particuraly accurate M70 takes alot of work to true them. The parts to accurize them cost more. Its cheaper to buy a CZ 550.

Try one from the new South Carolina factory. My .375 took a little bit of load development, but it shoots as accurate as any rifle I own with 300gr TSX and A-Frames and I've not done anything to it yet.

Starting to have second thoughts why did remington stop making them?
Remington didnt make them, they just sold them with their name. Guns are made in Yugoslavia or whatever they call it now. Its the other CZ, not the Czech one. Probably just didnt sell enough of them to keep buying them. Good guns though the barrels are too long at 25 or 26 inches. I like 24, others like shorter.

Zavastia is thier name used to make the M98. There I talked some senece into myself Dont need another DG rifle. I have too many projects already.

You're on the right track, but its actually ZASTAVA. Good guns! You're right too, you dont NEED anymore guns!

You guys sound like wives!

Phil

which may explain why I have more guns than ex-wives

curious, and one thing that many will never come to understand, that when an objective comparison is made, how truly less expensive a fine rifle is than an ex-wife.

I'm just sayin'

SW,

I'm quite fortunate to have been married to one woman for 20 plus years now. She's actually quite tolerant of my rifle buying, but I don't have an extravagant collection either. Now that the focus is starting to move towards my sons and buying guns for them, it's just fine with her. It means father/son time and she sees the high value in that.

Phil -

Meant no disrespect whatsoever...I am a fan of the whole marriage institution

Once for 22 and again for 14

your wife is a wise woman and your sons benefit from her wisdom and your generosity

as do my two daughters

Both older than your guys but yours will get there I am quite sure

E and K's dowry consist of 7mm 08's .375's and they share a 450/400 DR (from their grandfather) and a 458 that E 'had to have"

they can be described as fair hands with a rifle and sufficiently adequate with a shotgun to collect their limit.

Now, as a father raising children (which I already have) here is your benchmark

"you will never really enjoy (or appreciate) your children until they get to the point where you take them hunting and they clean your game"

One of these days you will have a big one on the ground, the boys will be busy field dressing it out and you will sit back on a rock and comfortably say to yourself "oh yeah, that's why I had them"

just enjoy...they do grow up way to fast

No issues SW, no offense taken. I've often thought about my boys hunting with me and am just getting to that point now. But I never thought of them doing the hard work of cleaning and getting the critter back to camp..... a very pleasant thought indeed!

Just buy a 458wm in the 700 series from Remingtons custom shop, I had one and wish I had never traded it, feel like kicking my own ass for that one.:banghead:

..I can help out with that, no problem..:biggrin2:

When I get to Namibia, just remind me of this gun transaction I am speaking of, someone needs to kick me, it was the best shooting big bore I have owned. Recoil was very manageable (due to barrel weight) and it was a beautiful piece of walnut and it was very, very accurate. I won't resist the ass kicking... even though it was push feed, I know I put around 250 rds through the tube and never had a single problem. CRF vs. PF, who cares, as long as it's a gun you're comfortable with, and I was.

maybe there is a negative side to be easily able to buy and sell guns. if you had to go through a load of paperwork and licensing each time want to buy one, maybe you would be more thoughtful before getting rid.:doh2:

Guess I'd rather taking my chances of getting an ass kicking from DOC and regret getting rid of that paticular rifle , than to have someone telling me I can/can't own or get rid of a rifle. Thing is, I can find another, and when the time come and some $$$$, I can buy it back, kept his contact info. This thread has been :hijack: Sorry bout that.

Guess sometime I take gunbuying/trading for granted, but after joining this site and seeing what folks have to go through in other countries, I'm happy where I am.:draught: (most of the time):banghead::biggrin2:

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

X5i scope is perfect - thanks for an easy transaction! Buy with confidence.
Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
