Yes I used 325 wsm when I loaded for it but either will work.

Interesting wildcat. Wonder how one would go about getting dies for it?

They make does for them think it was Redding that does. When I loaded I used a combo of several dies and got a few test loads loaded.

Wild to see this. I remember working at a gun shop right when the WSMs came out. One day a guy was in looking for .416 bullets. I asked him what he was reloading. He said, “I’m going to stuff a 416 into a WSM case and see what happens.”

neat to see someone actually got it working!

Started on a "build" but deferred it to another project; sold the components off, nowadays I'd just go 416 Ruger ...

NEAT WILDCAT. WE HAVE A BLASER BARREL BORED TO .358 WSM

Damn, this tempting...

As that case only holds the eq powder of an 06 case (or a 257 Wby), I'd think it's 20-40 gr light on powder charge. Probably ok for boar, black bear, buffalo, moose at modest range, but likely not suitable for DG. I couldn't even find ballistics on a big wildcatter's reloading database, but own both WSMs (60s gr) and 416s (80-100 gr). Powder space would be clobbered w/ a 400 gr projectile in that short case. Here you can see it next to the two shortest "functional" 416s that deliver 2,450 fps w/ 400 gr slugs (and 80ish gr of powder). I think it'd be a hit amongst black bear hunters in the Nez Perce.
