I’m quickly approaching my Namibia hunt and have been doing some shooting in preparation. However I’m having difficulty finding a reliable source of ammo here in southern New England. Not only did I visit my local Cabela’s but also made a fairly substantial order of last minute gear and ammo from another major US retailer to find it had been canceled on me three days after placing it.
Any reliable sources would be kindly appreciated. Thanks

Midway USA and Hendershots for custom ammo. https://hendershots.net/product/375-hh-magnum-extreme-custom-ammo/

BTW, about 5 years ago I went to Alaska for a brown bear hunt. We built in a day to hand out in Anchorage before flying to bear camp. We went by the Cabelas, just knowing they'd be stocked up with lots of stuff needed in Alaska. What a disappointment! I think they had 2 types of 375 H&H ammo.

Unfortunately Midway is the company I had the issue with. When I called customer service to speak to a representative about why my orders were canceled they told me it was a 14 minute wait for the next available agent. Unacceptable and disappointing

I order from my distributor it’s here in two days then I ship it to you probably 5 days

Thank you for the offer. I’m hoping to find some before the weekend.

Where are you hunting and who with? How long before you go?
Can your outfitter get some in Namibia ready for you?

Midway USA.
I get their Nosler Safari Monolithic meplat brass Solids in 300 grain weight for my .375 HH Magnum Winchester Model 70 and BRNO ZKK 602 :) They have a nice selection. Due to distortions , l have recently officially given up on FMJ round nosed ammunition :p for solid work , except someday if l get George Gibbs to build me a .505 Gibbs :p . Then , l will be using 600 Grain Norma FMJs.
And of course my .350 Rigby Magnum ZKK- 602 custom rifle for which only 225 grain Kynoch FMJ round nose solids are available :(

@Lobster.mike I was in Kittery Trading Post about a month ago. They had a small selection of 375H&H in there at that time. I *Think* they had barnes TTSX. I'd call them asap. If they have the Barnes, buy all they have left and you're good to go. There is a small chance in hell that LL Bean in Freeport might have a box or two of 375hh. Last place, where there is GOOD chance of finding REALLY GOOD ammo would be in NH at New England Custom Gun. If NECG has ammo, it will likely be RWS and it will cost 4x what you think good ammo will cost, but that's your backup plan. Kittery -> Bean -> NECG.

High quality 375HH ammo is in short supply at present. The go-to Federal Premium Woodleigh Hydros are backordered and will be for months or years. I believe the Federal A-Frames may be also. That leaves you with Hornady (not great) and Barnes (great) for things you might scrounge off a shelf.

6 months prior is not too early to be doing such things. Of course reloading would solve plus a bonus of custom ammo with some skin in the game. In worst case- 375 HH would be one of the most common calibers to find in Africa and could certainly be found in Windhoek but the choices may be limited as all ammo in Africa is limited and is expensive.

Ammoseek.com was mentioned earlier. I’d suggest you go there, try to find one of the dealers close to you, and buy it through them. One might be close enough you could go pick it up.
JMT and best of luck!

Look at Graf and Sons, they seem to have a decent selection, worth a look.

Thank you all for the responses. I believe I might just be in luck locally. Will let you know in the morning.

I’m hunting with Jamy Traut. Super excited to be going!

Try highby outdoors. They are like a newer version of midway. Very nice folks, I’ve had good experiences with them.

Very good choice in a PH. I’m returning to hunt with PH Louw Lotter at Jamy Traut safaris next summer. I had an excellent experience hunting with them last year. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I’d be happy to provide info.
