25-06 vs 6.5 Creedmoor video

What a great article, thanks for sharing! I own both cartridges. :) Unfortunately where I live in GA, I can't see the full potential of either cartridge. Not many places where I can hunt pass 200+ yds. :(

@375 Ruger Fan
How's to show what I have been saying for the last 45 years. Ain't no flies on a good 25 caliber.
My own design 25 with a 100grain Barnes ttsx at 3,670fps is 2 inches high at 100 and 200 yards and at 400 yards is only 8 inches low.
That's plenty flat enough for me.
Can't wait to see If'n the 130 grain 25 cal takes off it would take the 25s in to a whole new level.
Long live the 25s.
Bob

Bob, I am a big fan of the 257 Weatherby, and I believe their 100 grs is a bit shy of your 3670 fps. Not sure if with reloads I can do better than your 3670 fps, I look more into accuracy vs. speed. Even thought that was not Roy Weatreby's idea. :)

@PARA45
Fortunately I get both speed and accuracy with my 25. The 100grain Barnes TTSX, 115grain nosler combined technology silver tip and 117grain SST all group less than 3/4 inch at 100 and less than1 inch at 200yards
The 115grain nosler combined technology silver tip groups under 0.9 inch and the SST a milli-poofteenth over 0.9 at the same distance.

That's good enough for me for accurate.

I knew if it had to do with a .25 cal vs 6.5CM @Bob Nelson 35Whelen would have a response.

The bullet only gets you there.
You gotta be the one pulling the trigger and not making mistakes.
Good shooting mate.

@BeeMaa
Mate I've been singing the praises of the 25 cals for 45 years and it's about time people saw the benefits of it over the 24s and .264s/6.5 mm and to a big extent even the mighty 270. You Can't tell me a .277 130grain a 3,100 fps is going to kill game any better than a 120 grain 257 started at 3,370fps.
The 270 with a 130 grain has been pushed down our throats to believe it is the ultimate slayer of medium game for years.
Other calibers like the fat 25s have been doing the job just as well and in some cases better for years.
Never underestimate the 25 you may find the smile and shine disappear from other cartridges.

I don't even have to watch the video to understand why the Creedmoor lost - Hornady brass....

:A Outta:
I use Hornady exclusively for 308.

180 gr Grand Slam at about 2550 - the flier was from my bench getting bumped. That's 4 in the middle, 100 yards
43.7 gr varget.jpg

5 shots 175 gr VLDH at about 2610, also 100 yards (ELD-X had a slightly larger group, still under 0.4)

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
