Hello, I am brand new here. I am in the process of booking a Buff/PG hunt for 2025. Adding a few days of touring as my wife will be going is also attractive. I have spoke with Dalton and York and am very excited to move forward with them. I haven't really spoke with anyone else but have really enjoyed my conversations with Dalton. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks so very much!

D&Y have earned a pretty good reputation here on AH. I would guess you'd be looking at hunting the Omay. Others would know better, but as I understand it, it's a great destination for buffalo. PG as it seems to be in other places in Zimbabwe when hunting a primarily DG area is hit and miss. So if you're hunting buffalo as the prime target and PG as a secondary, take it when/if it comes, I think you're making a good decision.

My thoughts are very much subject to correction here from others who would know better.

I haven't hunted with them but I believe you picked a winner. Good luck with the research and planning, it's at least half the fun.

I agree planning is part of the fun. I borrowed a 375 and a 458 to start shooting. I learned I'm not cut out for a 458 WM and am buying a Kimber Caprivi in 375.

I'm with you, my biggest gun is .375 H&H . I'm not going any bigger because my eye doctor seems to think I'm gonna tear a retina before too long.

Welcome to the addiction! D&Y is a very reputable operator. Jump in here and do a lot of searches for preparation and various safari topics. There is an extensive archive of topics that will help you. Also, you are wise to go with the 375. It will do everything you need without beating you up. Get it sighted in and then do the rest of your practice from shooting sticks and field positions. We are here to encourage and support your journey!

I hunted with them back in august and got a nice buff. They are fun and fantastic! However if your wife is not a hunter and she wants to be doing things while you hunt they are not your outfitters as much as I love them

I would fly Atlanta direct to JNB overhnight at City Lodge then fly to Vic Falls to tour for a few days then charter small plane to the Omay to hunt with D&Y. I did this only first flew to Harare then small plane to Omay but I was not touring

I have also just hunted with them, I left camp a month ago today.

I very much liked Dalton in our conversations. After some advice, I’m thinking I need something a bit different to accommodate my wife and meet my hunting goals. I’m very open to suggestions. I had hoped to have this thing for 2025 booked by now.

I just don’t think Zim is your answer. I love it and am doing back to back trips but it is clearly in my mind not for non hunters. You would be better in SA where your spouse would have fun things to do each day while you have a great hunt. @TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS would be perfect for your need. While you have a chance at a 47 inch buff your wife. An be visiting a big 5 park or spend time in a spa. It’s all there. Those things just don’t work in Zim except as I told you in an earlier post Vic Falls in their Vic Falls Hotel

I have not hunted with D&Y, but I am booked with them for Sept 2025. I hear many good things about them and certainly enjoy all of their videos on YouTube!! Good luck in your planning!

@JT300 You know your wife and what her needs are. It makes a big difference in the type of operator you go with.

What do you want on that "tour"? The hunt location changes everything.
Spas, Wildlife viewing in a park, Casinos, shopping, wineries, lion petting zoos, seals, penguins, Vic Falls, history.

What kind of hunt are you looking to do?
Read some reports. Ask questions of the hunters and the operator.

Good luck with your research.

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
