Good day AH community!
We hope this offer finds you well with everyone looking forward to the 2025 season! We are very excited about the prospects of this hunt as this is a totally unique experience for the avid adventure/mountain hunter and we hope to see many more of our clients doing these type of hunts in 2025! The area where the hunt will take place is near Kuruman in the Northern Cape, roughly 5 and a half hours drive from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The hunt takes place along the Asbestos mountain range. The sheep here were first introduced in the 1970's and have since spread across all surrounding mountains. The hunting area is 16,000 acres in size however the Barbary sheep are 100% free range. They have figured out how to navigate fences and now abound throughout the mountains. Accommodation for the hunt is breathtaking and you will be pampered beyond belief here.
Fitness is without question a requirement for this hunt. It is a HARD hunt if you don't like mountains! A quality long distance firearm with decent optics is also highly recommended. Shots can be quite far due to the tough terrain! (very rocky). Rifle shots can be anywhere from 100m to 400m. But there are many Aoudad. After we harvest an Aoudad we sometimes have to process it in the mountains and get it out. This is an ideal hunt to do early in the season as it is not too cold yet over on that side of South Africa, however normal hunting seasons will work just fine. There are lots of other great species to hunt in between the sheep hunt and the terrain supports a diverse abundance of species. Other species that are in exceptional numbers are Buffalo, Mountain and Burchell's Zebra, Oryx, Eland, Blesbuck and Springbok. However there are good numbers of everything listed below!
