Finally got the taxidermy from my first safari, which was last June in the Northern Cape. Given the limitations of my house, particularly ceiling height, and budget, I went 100% European mount, along with flat skins. I'm headed back in 2021, not sure what the plan will be on the taxidermy front - perhaps photos only next time around? Very much appreciate the effort made by the shipper to get my crate on an outbound repatriation flight.

Congratulations! Very nice mounts. I'm a big fan of euro skull mounts and almost all of my mounts from three trips to Africa are euro skulls. Only shoulder mounts are sable and a pair of impala--one standard and one black and a scimitar oryx I hunted in the Texas hill country.

Nice, looks like my own house :D

Congrats !

Nice, where in the Northern Cape did you hunt?

Hi

here might be an idea for one of the hides if you can find someone to make one.

This is what I did with my only full hide from my two Safaris.

it was a Red Hartebeest and I found a local company in Colorado to make a rifle case for me.

A farm off the N12 about 40km southwest of Kimberly. Some South African friends organized it and we drove up from Cape Town and stayed in a self-catering house on the farm.

Much cooler than throw pillows! I will have to look it this, as I came back with three large flat skins.

Fantastic!! I love them! Enjoy them as The great memories they are.

Very nice! I like the lighting. I too am a fan of euro mounts.

We used skins to cover our dining room chairs (eland) and an antique daybed. It turned out even better than I expected.

Very nice. I hunted Namibia 3 times and did euro mounts on my trophies. Glad to see you got your trophies home.

Nice to have them home. I'm very happy for you! Kinda nice to do a DIY type hunt?

Yes, it was a great time. But without local friends to put it together, might be tough to arrange. If you do set it up and don't mind doing your own shopping, cooking, and laundry, it can be really good value.

I do have some friends there, and like doing things on my own, so you never know.... One day.....

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
