I visited Mark Ouellette today a fellow Michigan resident and AH member. He is only :45 south of me.

He welcomed me to his shooting range and we shot a few toys.

I got to shoot his Krieghoff DR in 500/416

His Heym double rifle and a custom .450 Rigby on a Vecktor action.

I brought my Krieghoff 500/416 and my custom model 70 in .416 Taylor

A great way to get outside on a crappy weather day
Mark runs a disciplined, safe range. He is a very good shot with doubles and magazine rifles. And a good coach.

Pictures in order 1st two are the .416 Taylor

2nd two are Mark shooting the .450 Rigby

3rd and 4th are the .416 Taylor

Final two are me on the .450 Rigby followed by the radar speed of the .450

Thanks again Mark for a fun afternoon

Good way to bring in the new year. But Michigan on Jan 1 wearing light jackets, no gloves and no white stuff on the ground....must be having a heat wave!

well done!!!

The standing shooting bench on the surveyor’s tripod is a good idea for shooting the big guns.

Unfortunately no pics of either of us shooting the Heym
Marks right and left were touching. Mine were 1.5 apart
Needless to say the Heym hype is real

Dang, I saw a set of survey legs in a local pawn shop a while back. Wish I'd bought them. If I can find another and saw off an ironing board, putting them together should make the perfect standing position shooting rest. Thanks for the idea!

Honestly I’m happy all is well! I was concerned initially reading the headline. Probably due to living too close to Chicago…
Fixed that.

Mark is a great guy. Glad you got to take advantage of the unseasonable midwest winter!

I’m hoping so. Embarking on my double rifle adventure with one. .470 and .375 HH
