Hi everyone
Im shooting my first swart wildebees next weekend.
Im looking around to buy myself a 308 or 30-06 rifle and cant seem to get the brand to use.I have read a lot about the CZ 550, savage, musgrave, tikka.Still what wil be the best? Dont want to buy and later have to get another because of bad quality etc.
Pleae help me out...

Tikka's are for me the best value. Smooth action and very accurate rifles. Not much for aesthetic value but as a tool you can't go wrong for a great price.

Thanks phil.My price range is +- R10 000 to R12 000.So most of them fall in that range and up...

Take a look at the Musgrave and Tikka.
I am not sure what you have available to look at and or purchase where you live.
Purchase a good quality scope to add to your rifle, quality will last a lifetime if you take care of them.
As for 308 or 30-06 look to see what you have available to purchase and go from there. Both are good rounds to chose between.

Thanks James.Where i stay, there is very little. So end of the month im going to pretoria to have a look.I can get a good second hand musgrave custom. ..But do not no what to look at for any problems. The tikka is lite compared to a cz.Dont know how a musgrave feels yet.

I've had a browning stainless stalker for 20 years and it is very accurate with factory federal 180 grain.

Don't skimp on the optics. If you can afford it, I would suggest that the Leupold VX6 is the way to go - great glass. I just used it in New Zealand with the illuminated reticle, 2-12 42. I could see the Tahr at 315 yards 5 minutes before dark - the sun had been set for at least 20 - 25 minutes.

I would go for 30-06 CZ 550.......if you manage to get license in a week, please let me know your contact.

Thanks thi9elsp....Wil look at the price on them.Is it beter to use the cz 550 because of the weight. Im going to use my father in laws rifle for next weekend ...Ranyati is the best in the motivation I know off. Some of hes guys get it in 3weeks..Probably depends on your luck.

Not the weight, its the action of the rifle that counts. and a few other things.

Tokkie, jou bliksem, maar jy ken jou goed...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As James Grage has said, I'm not sure what you have available to pick from , but my .30-06 is an Interarms Mk X Viscount....it's a "lower end" rifle (used they run about $350-$375 used here in the States...the gun is no longer in production to the best of my knowledge), but mine has been quite accurate (esp. with heavier bullets) and putting some good glass (Leupold) on it makes it a very fine hunting rifle for the price. Good luck in your search..........

Im from south afrika....Used i can get them at R15 000.Older rifles at R10 000 or so....Can also get a brand new rifle for R13 000 to R15 000.

Buy new if you can. I currently run a T3 TAC with a 20 inch barrel as my all weather gun. Attached is a target of a secondary target (size of a cigarette packet) found on CHASA Impala shooting table, distance was 300 meters and I used Lapua Scenar 155gr factory ammo. Scope is a NF NXS and I have a secondary dot sight fitted. Pulled the first shot, but not by much.

It was built late last year, reason I'm selling it is im going into dangerous game now. I want 16500 for the rifle but 25000 for everything including my never used reloading kit , the vortex pst 4-16x50 illuminated scope , bipod , sling, bag , and my box of hunting rounds that I never used yet.

Wil this be something to look at?
