1917 with RMR

Thats an awesome looking 458 ! The 1917 are super smooth I want to change mine to cocking on opening .
I have a dayton trace trigger and cock on open on backorder for another 1917 I have at the gunsmith
It's currently a 30-06. Might be a 404 jeffery some day.

Yes it is..
Was wondering about the sectional density of this bullet in 458, but found a thread that addressed it very nicely.

It’s hard to compare monometals to more traditional bullets especially from the pre-Partition era. While the reputation of the various 45 calibers on dangerous game was made with the 500 gr bullet, the 450 TSX seems like a good choice for a 458 Win Mag with sectional density similar to a 300 gr 375 and 286 gr 9.3.

Monometals seem to perform like expanding solids with characteristic of both softs and solids both positive and negative. The monometals, solid rear core bullets, and thick jacketed cup and core solids seem to have some overlap, though I have really started to think of them as separate categories when it comes to terminal performance. Many roads to the same place depending on whether you want to maximize penetration, balance penetration and expansion, or maximize expansion on DG with adequate penetration.

I currently have a wide variety of bullets in use (have even taken a pronghorn with an ELD-M), but favor the monometals and partitioned/bonded bullets for most use.

I was planning to give the 350 gr North Fork softs a try in my 375 on Buffalo, but 416 bullets and ammo was more available here in Canada. So I’m getting a 416 barrel for my Blaser. Makes sense, right????

I wonder what prompted the change? Anyway, here’s some potential wapiti, moose and bear cartridges for the .22 big game aficionados:

Pitty the 225 Winchester didn't take off. It's a sexy little cartridge that almost equals the 22-250. Being semi- rimmed it would make a beautiful single shot round

DON'T believe it or not it's quicker to operate in its original form and if not done properly can make the safety inoperable.

@illini
What weight is it
Looks fairly light in which case it would be rather lively.
A mate bought one in the same cal that was only 7#, fired one shot and sent it down the road. Said the recoil was brutal.

It is just shy of 10 lbs. It has a heavy barrel. I need to weigh it again. I was thinking 9.8 lbs. Balance is good and recoil is not a big deal on this gun. I can shoot if off the bench.

Updated on velocity. Got a new chronograph and went back to the range today. Shot Superior Ammo 450 grain A Frame. 20 inch barrel. Average velocity was 2,259 fps 3 shot group at 50 yards.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
