So I bought a new piece of glass to put on my 7mm mag. took the rifle and glass to the gun shop for mounting, and then things got expensive. I asked how much it would cost me to mount and bore sight the glass, less than a $100 bucks, good please proceed, then I asked this question. How much do you charge to do a gun transfer if I purchase a rifle off of Gun Broker, tax plus $25 dollars, my guy says what you looking for? CZ- 375 H&H Mag.
I'm told by the gun shop owner, I'm helping a widow sell her husbands rifle collection, she has a CZ-375 with muzzle brake and scope for $1300, I said sold, so that's how you spend $1400 to get a scope mounted! Now I have to book a buffalo hunt here in the next year or so, but first I have just 3 months before I'm hunting with Marius at KMG, maybe the 375 can be used for some plains game?

Poor impulse control.

Use it for all plains game, you will be happy with it!

Had this happen to me once! Joined a deer club with 1/18th ownership in the property and club house building. $4000 reasonable purchase at the time. Then I needed an ATV....$6000 at the time....reasonable purchase. Then I needed a trailer to put the ATV on....$1200 reasonable purchase at the time. Then I needed a new truck .......$23,000 at the time and I thought it was a very reasonable purchase. Well I had to have a new rifle.......ALL REASONABLE PURCHASES. About $36000!
That fall I got a nice deer and brought home the tenderloins after processing the rest of the meat for camp use. This was about three pounds of meat! My wife says to me so you paid $35,000 for three pounds of meat. Well yes I guess so said me! Not a reasonable purchase says she.
We don't talk about the price of my hunting anymore!
Talk about impulses!

Congrats, definitely use your .375 for PG!

I like your reply Charlie all sounds reasonable to me, I guess I was low on my rifle purchase, forgot add how much a buffalo hunt cost? I have Zebra, Oryx, Black Wildebeest, and maybe an Eland plus other smaller PG on my list, just have to figure out what bullets work best for what game before I leave in May.

250gr projectiles work quite well on PG. If you're a bandleader, I have a few recipes, just let me know. If not, I think there are factory loads in TTSX, A-Frame and/or Nosler Partitions/Accubonds that would work.

So do the 270 and 300 grain loads as well. For a pure PG hunt, would agree 250 or 270 would be ideal.

tay50, we must both like one stop shopping. Just think of all the time and gasoline you saved let alone the FFL transfer charge. Enjoy your hunt.

1.300$ for the rifle + air ticket + daily rates + buffalo + taxidermy + trophy transport +......

It does become very expensive to mount a scope

Just enjoy the whole thing

And you guys complain about how much Money your Wives spend on Shoes

Got to a have a purse to match the shoes. Need a wallet to match the purse. Need a wristet thing to match that. Need a coat to match....It's the same thing.

The reason we complain is the purse equals a kudu, the wallet equals a springbok, the wristlet thing a impala and the coat covers dip pack. Throw in airfare and you got a Safari.

At $1500 I thought you'd gotten one of those fancy @rookhawk claw extractor side cross mount thingies.... ;)

Congrats @tay50 ! I think $1400 is very reasonable in this case!!

And here I sit on a Sunday afternoon Fighting off the Impulse to buy that Sweet little 20ga O/U I've been lusting over

I took a detour home from where I had reserve training this weekend, only to find the store was closed. Thankfully I was ten min away still, or I may have cried a little.

@CAustin Mine was tickets to the 2011 DSC Convention banquet and the 'free' wine provided at the table which lead to the winning bid $12K for the buffalo hunt, then $1,200 on the rifle/ammo/rings, and probably $15k for travel, tips, additional trophies, and taxidermy. Which then lead to Iceland and Paris in 2013 for ten year anniversary - for some reason Steak and Shake wasn't going to cut it!

So, @tay50 I think you have just made the initial deposit and layaway on future spend!

John
