Hunting reports
Africa

As I was talking to one of my coworkers today they glanced at the calendar and casually blew me away. "So, 13 days till your trip, eh?" I blinked. That couldn't be right....could it? Had my first ever African adventure really snuck up on me? I know I've been trying hard (and failing) not to think about it to avoid the time drags, but there it was on the calendar, black and white. 13 days till wheels up!! I'll be in South Africa with
@Lianga Safaris and now that my brain knows how close it is I'm sure that I'm ruined as far as letting time go fast! Ha!

Now my wife and I are trying to get everything in order. Got the signed 4457 for the firearms, got the Pelican cases and will carve the foam to fit the rifles tonight, got the other case for the ammo (silly if you ask me, why can't I just store it with the rest f my checked bags. Ah well, British Air for you) and now I'm trying to track down anything extra I might have forgotten or put off because I "had time" to see about it later. Extra batteries for the camera, adapter for plug ins for South Africa, boots...I think those are the major items!

Any advice for a first timer going over there (other than to change my user name, when I made the account this was just a dream! I might have to when I get back though!)? Going to be flying into Heathrow with a 12 hour layover (get to see a bit of London, also for the first time!) and from there down to Johannesburg. Thanks in advance for any input!

Exciting times!!! Look forward to the report.

Take a headlamp or small flashlight. Chapstick, sunscreen, a journal, and take lots of pics!

Good luck and shoot straight. Pictures, pictures, pictures and a journal to record everything.

Oh yeah and don't pack as many clothes as you think you need, 3-4 changes are plenty. Take some USD $1 bills and smaller rand notes also. Let your credit card company know your traveling in case you need to use it.

Congrats and good luck!

And the excitement builds! You're going to have a wonderful trip! Enjoy every moment!

Have the time of your life sir! Enjoy it all.

Wish you the best !

Thanks all! Yes there will defiantly be a report when I get back! I'd do it while I was out there but I'm not taking my laptop. I'm in Africa for an adventure, not to web surf:A Type:!

Best of luck to you. Wish I were going with you.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
