Thanks for the insight! Is there a gunsmith you could recommend to do the work that is familiar with this particular rifle and conversion I'm looking for? Or perhaps a better host rifle and starting point all together? I'm completely okay with leaving this rifle as it is and starting with a...
What would the benefit be of using that as the host rifle? I've been researching and was under the assumption that a 375H&H would be better to start with due to the OAL being the same for the two cartridges. Meaning less work to make the conversion than starting with a .458WM which would require...
I've been on the lookout for a host rifle/bare action to either build or convert to .458 Lott. While looking through the online classified ads, I came across a very nice looking Remington stamped Zastava in 375H&H. Listed as "excellent condition, looking as though it has never been fired." I...
Thanks so much for all the input!
I went ahead and placed an order for both the VX-6HD and S&B Polar I originally asked about, as well as an S&B Klassik 3-12x42, as suggested by revturbo.
I sincerely appreciate all the responses! I'm certain one of these scopes will fit this rifle perfectly...
You are absolutely correct. The quintessential 375 safari rifle is outfitted with a 1-4 or 1-6 scope. I completely agree.
I will be taking my Model 70 topped with a Leica 1-6. This new rifle I wanted something different, a little more magnification. This is more of a want than a need.
Thanks for all the replies so far.
My feeling is that you all prefer S&B for overall glass quality and clarity but instead suggest the Leupold based on physical size.
I have a Model 70 in 375 topped with a 1-6x24 Leica already. I wanted a bit more magnification for this project. Could someone...
I have a Christensen Arms Traverse chambered in 375 H&H that needs some glass. I'm trying to decide between these two scopes and hoping to get some input from those more experienced with higher end optics.
I have no way of seeing the S&B before purchase and have no previous experience with...
This is the dilemma I'm having. A heavier weight, heavier constructed bullet should expand less, therefore causing less damage. More of a clean channel cut through the target. Where as a lighter bullet, both in weight and construction coupled with the higher velocity, in theory would cause more...
That has been my assumption, and I'm glad you confirmed it! As for the range, I currently have the rifle sighted in 2 inches high at 100 yards. That should give me no more than 3 inches above or below point of aim out to about 225. I'm waiting to use my buddy's chronograph to get real numbers...
Hello all!
Long time lurker, first time poster. Tons of great info here but I can't find anything on my specific question. I recently bought a Model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H and topped it with a Leica Amplus 1-6x24. Having never hunted with a 375 before, my knowledge of it's capabilities...
