    Which to choose for clays/dove

Not too mention that the Mirokus can take steel down the barrel as opposed to tungsten or bismuth with the Belgians.

    Which to choose for clays/dove

Ontario, I completely agree when it comes to Japanese vs. Belgian. The older Belgians are beautiful but if I had to take an Auto 5 into a duck blind or boat I would grab the Miroku anyday! I might pull one of my old Belgians out for a dove shoot or to hunt over a wood duck hole but that's it.

Another gun to take a look at... the Franchi Affinity 3. Fantastic guns, made by Benelli/Beretta. The next 20ga I buy will be a Affinity.

    Which to choose for clays/dove

My SBE2 will cycle most of the time. The main culprit that I've had a problem with are the 100 pack either Winchester or Federal cheaper target loads. You can't even call the low brass, they're no brass. I do wish I had one of those old HK imported SBE1's, I've shot a couple of them that had...

    Which to choose for clays/dove

If I could only take one of my shotguns in the dove field and clay course it would be my 1982 1100 12ga with fixed improved cylinder. It will eat any shell you feed it flawlessly. I love my SBE2, it's a great all around shotgun. It suffers on the clay course just like my old Auto 5's with...

What is the purpose of carrying a knife out in a safari..

I carry a Benchmade Claymore every day that I use for everything from cutting rope to cutting up a steak. I did pick up this sweet Nkosi from Afton but I didn't wear it.

Airlink vs. CemAir Pty Ltd for in-country air travel in RSA?

Never flown Cemair but have no complaints about Airlink. Decent Embrair aircraft. Good crews. Joburg to PE, you actually get a sandwich and a beer or glass of wine. Try getting that with a basic ticket in the States on a hour and twenty minute flight.

Delta vs United (higher end economy)

For legroom on the ATL to JNB or the return, book towards the back! I don't understand not waiting an extra five minutes to get off when you've been on for fifteen hours. Couple of other perks to being on the back of the big Airbus. You've got a service station directly behind you and...

SOUTH AFRICA: Frontier Safaris Eastern Cape 05/01-05/10

Conclusion... Frontier was fantastic. The PH's, staff, property and animals were incredible. As a Southerner, hospitality and manners go a long way with me. The staff and Burchell family did not disappoint one bit. Alicedale, Eastern Cape is tough hunting, you earn your trophies. It is a...

05/10 Last day of hunting. We still have a warthog to kill. We stay at the lodge a little later, most of the pigs we had been seeing were mid morning to afternoon. We locate a nice pig with some sows, put on a stalk but he gives us the slip. Head to Grahamstown for lunch then we decide to check...

I'm a shorts and ankle gaiters kind of guy. If it's warm enough I don't like getting caught up with long pants. Use your permethrine and keep moving.

05/09 Round two The same farm that we shot the kudu on is also loaded with impala. We drive around that late afternoon and see a good many small rams. Checking firearms to S.A.

My meet and greet got me through JNB on the arrival then on the departure to PLZ. There again in JNB for the trip home. 05/09 We've still got a kudu, impala and a warthog to fill on the package. We head to another concession up on the Fish River. The hunt starts out with Timba and an unexperienced tracker from that farm. We go to make a move on a stud impala ram. Barry and I make great stalk moving behind...

05/08 The wind shifts back out of the South and temps drop quickly. The focus is kudu for the day. We stalk several nice bulls during the day. 05/07 Continued We take the bushbuck back to the skinners. I'm doing a wall pedestal with that one. We head back out looking for kudu. We see some nice bulls just can't get to them.
