    Wild food?

This might just be a Southern thing. This is Chinnybriar or Chaineybriar aka Wild Asparagus. One of my Grandmothers used to take me in the woods to pick them. We would cook them like Asparagus. I remember one time when I was probably 12 or so, I shot half a dozen quail in the fields and woods...

    Deer Season 2026

How have the doves been down there this year? I been seeing tons of doves this year up around Myrtle and Conway. Haven't seen this many in years. Should be some nice shoots for the opener up this way.

    Deer Season 2026

Gun season started today in my game zone of SC. Primitive weapons started 08/15. In the lower part of the state gun and primitive weapons came in 08/15. With temps near 100f and fields of corn that have not been cut yet, I don't feel like getting in the stand yet. Hopefully the corn gets cut...

A little twist on my go-to pasta this summer. Used angel hair and chopped up a grilled lobster tail. The last loaf of rustic Italian bread the bakery had was sliced, so I popped it in the toaster and basted it with some garlic butter.

I used to really hate the .308

I was always the same way about the 308, but I've recently gotten the urge to buy one. I've found a threaded Howa that I'm looking at. I did shoot a kudu in Eastern Cape with a PH'S suppressed 308 in an old FN Mauser action and was a little impressed. That being said, the 06 will always be...

    The IPA beer guy

Not so much headaches, but there are some IPAs that give me farts that defy the laws of nature. Goose Island and Sierra Nevado Torpedo to name a couple. A few years back after drinking a few Torpedos, I woke myself up out of a deep sleep around 4 in the morning. My dog looked at me with this...

    The IPA beer guy

I started drinking IPA's before the craze. I started with the original Ranger from New Belgium, which was an incredible beer. New Belgium used to make a seasonal white IPA called Accumulation which was a limited holiday run, to this day it was one of the best beers I've ever had. Then New...

Got a little tired of the homade peach ice cream. So we tried something different. Maybe it was the thought of being on a flight from ATL to JNB. Vanilla with chunks of Biscoff cookies. I added chocolate syrup to mine. I gotta say, that Cuisinart ice cream maker is great, sure beats the old...

Well boys, what's your temperature like now?

It's actually quite nice here in coastal SC right now. After several days of 105f heat index with humidity through the roof , we've had a front come through bringing some rain. Today was low 80's and overcast.
