Scheels was were I got my pelican v800 with free shipping on a black friday special. Might be worth a look there. I opted not to take my pelican 1750 case back after last time when the airline help knocked on latch open and and the rifle slid almost to the outside. Thankfully, one of the four...
Check orbitz and expedia sites to compare. They usually have cheaper options and with Gracy, when I went, Gracy was a touch cheaper than those site before their fee.
My first trip was for plains game. I enjoyed starting with that to get there and do more for less money the first time. It was great! Really happy I did that because it made me a good connection for my second trip to Namibia, and a scheduled 3rd trip next summer and unoffically another one in...
It doesn't have to cost as much as you think. If you are willing to give up the more expensive animals, taxidermy, and shortent the stay things are a lot cheaper. I honestly love going over and shooting meat orxy for landowners. And it's a lot cheaper. You still get pictures of everything. For...
I saw one recently. All that I remember was cz 550. Not sure if it was a magnum. It was on one of the other forums like accurate shooter, long range hunting, or 24hr campfire.
The metal ones are getting hard to find and expensive. If you watch scheels.com they have sales on pelican cases. I got my v800 case for at 20% off. A little less than $190 with free shipping. Don't forget the smaller box to put your ammo in too. That was last black friday sale.
That's awesome! I was going to go tour Parkwest when I did a job in Rapid City last fall but we had someone else do it since we were busy other places when it was ready. You'll have to let us know how the tour goes.
I wish it would have been daylight so I could have seen his rifle in the light to see that better and describe the contrast in reciever and what bluing it had for you. Too bad it was 8:30 at night when I saw their work. Even in airport lights after dark that was a work of art
I think you will like the color case hardening. I met Steve from Parkwest at the airport in Capetown flying into Windhoek. When we got to Windhoek and were getting our rifle permits, I got to check out his rifle with the color case hardening. The whole rifle looked great, but I really like the...
Peterson just released brass for the 6.8. Probably still some around. I got a bunch of stuff from drifters gear a few months ago for my 6.8. They had dies and brass cheap. And some a box of cheap wim ammo for 40 bucks to break in my barrel and make a modified case to find coal.
You all can blame me for this. Haha. Fanie is a great guy that I have hunted with twice. I did a google search for his place and this thread came up right away. I was looking for a link to send a friend. I commented here because he is a good guy and brought this back from the dead. Haha
Not all wrong. The only time in my life I wished I had more gun was shooting kudu and orxy with a 7mm rem mag and an eland with a 300 win may. They died fine. Just lived longer aftet I shot them than I am used to and ran farther than I was used to from deer hunting.
Probably not worth it if the plains game is larger stuff like orxy, kudu, eland, or waterbuck. If its smaller stuff like impala, springbok, warthog and that size it would be.
Adg did 375 ruger brass. You can always neck it up or call and ask if they have plans to do 416 ruger. They seem to be the ones wanting to do new stuff and less popular stuff.
With any gun or ammo they do production runs of large quanities at a time. You just have to wait until they do a production run. They obviously do the most popular stuff first and most often. People like us just have to wait longer between those runs of less popular stuff. The positive thing now...
Can you please pm me some pics of that savage in the mcmillan? Also if you have any browning abolts to send down the road, feel free to send pivs and info on them.
Thanks,
Kyle
I think you would like Namibia. The guy I use there is Game Ranch Transvall. He offers tours of a rhino conservancy, tours of Etosha National Park, and has great plains game hunting with very reasonable prices.
That seller is also good to sell offsite so you can get a better deal if you message through the ask seller a question. I bought a rifle from him about a month ago.
This exactly. The guy probably paid half of what he is asking and stuff isn't even going for half of some of the prices now. I was at a gun shop last week that sold more decent stuff and the guy said it's tough right now and sold me a new left handed rifle at less than cost because he didn't...
If you used any payment method tied to a bank account, even if they said no purchase protection, like paypal friends and family, you can go to you bank and report it as fraud and the bank will dispute it with the others for you.
This kind of stuff is great. I wish more places would use this kind of info for better. As well as predator control. All of the tools are in the tool box. So many go unused. It's nice to see stuff done better. Thanks for sharing.
You were right, I do own a abolt in 375 h&h. I recently changed my mind and want to keep that one for larger game like eland. I'll find another abolt.
With the 375 mags you get a 3.700" mag box that has enough room. And no mods needed for longer. Unless you want to do a little work on the mag...
You totally understand the frustration then. Haha! I just want to make sure I'm going to get great feeding from the larger diameter bullets, but a gentleman over on long range hunting siad that shouldn't be hard to get working great if it's an issue. Now to find my donor rifle...
I agree on the recoil, but with a limbsaver pad to replace the factory, no worse than anything else to me. I happen to have a McMillian stock for an abolt already. And the trigger adjists down to 2.5 lbs which I like for hunting. I really like the safety location on the browning rifles a lot...
I liked coming into Cape Town and then to Windhoek from there better than Addis to Windhoek, that turned into Addis to Joberg to Windhoek. Cape Town was easy to do on my way back by myself after I had an escort show me how to go through on arrival. If you are using Airlink to get to Windhoek...
